It's so weird be older than my favorite movie...😆I really wish it got the chance to grow up with its audience into a more serious adult series of movies and shows, like DC. The story progression potential for Chararcter Development, Villains and Plot Lines is insane.

Max's father didn't work and they never showed where his mother worked either.

My guess is that she's a retired OSS spy living off her retirement money or a well payed lawyer.

I like to think she used to be a spy, fits well into my Underground F-17 arc before Sharkboy and Lavagirl return to Earth as official heroes after years of keeping their distance from humans.

And I saw you really love it, so do you think they should remake it?

I think personally if they announced it, I'd be stoked but also I'd be really scared what they'd do to Lavagirl. There's just a tendency, these days, where they seem to uuuhh.... Fuck up, female characters like that. (Live action Katara what have they done to you TT_TT). I'm scared they'd go with a whole hothead and mean sassy girl when she actually seems rather restrained and gentle, and with a touch of clumsiness, and some lame jokes, while still being a valid threat.

Sharkboy and Lavagirl doesn't need a remake. With that being said, I'm not going to ignore the potential a remake has but at the same time...a remake does a disservice to the original film. Although, A remake can sharpen the ideas of the original film, it would also uselessly start the story over for a new generation that will most likely never find interest in a story like this one.

Sharkboy and Lavagirl is already built on a good foundation, it just needs a continuation. The fandom is already there, the foundation of a story is already built. The only thing stopping it is the the director's inability to see the potential in aging it up to match its current audience.
