Some sobering statistics for you. 6 out of 10 of us on dialysis for 5 years will likely die. Not very promising or optimistic is it? But this is our reality. This is why we need more living donor angels! As many of you know, this is my 2nd time on dialysis. I started in-center hemodialysis 3 days a week on my 17th birthday & I continued that treatment for 9 long years (I'm one of the 20% who made it 5-10 years) before I got my first kidney transplant from a deceased donor angel. After just 3 years, I had a really bad rejection episode, which unexplainably happens sometimes & my body started attacking my beloved gift. The Minor Deities (doctors) were able to slow the rejection down which bought me 8 more years with my treasured kidney, then I had to return to dialysis & start the wait all over again. I have now been on dialysis for nearly 6 years this time around & having had a previous transplant along with several years of blood transfusions, I am difficult to match because of all the antibodies I've built up. A living donor would be the best option for me as deceased donor kidneys have so many unknowns & often don't last as long as living donor organs. I've had one person do an advanced donation which got me a voucher for a living donor when one becomes available but that could take years, even decades! So if you're feeling called to give the gift of life, PLEASE CONTACT ME! I can answer nearly any question you have about the process & direct you to the websites where you can register to be tested & see if you could be my lifesaver! Comment, send a private message, carrier pigeon, smoke signals, whatever! I'm desperate & I am not ready to die! I've got a beautiful niece, a nephew due any day now, my adorable kitties, my advocacy work & lots of friends to live for! I don't know that I've ever done this before but I'm legit BEGGING right now. I'm tired of putting two 15 gauge needles in my arm 4 times a week & worrying about if something happens while I'm on the dialysis machine how I will call for help while incapacitated. I'm tired of the strain dialysis puts on my heart. Most of all, I'm tired of being tired. #ShareYourSpare #MelNeedsAKidney #DonateLife (at Cape Coral, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL9gYBpA69W/?igshid=pbidpo8d4132

Tumblrs being weird. It keeps freezing mid scroll on me and I can barely read anyone's post...I've been checking in all week and keep getting stuck....
I guess maybe they are wondering when the hell I came back!
Things are pretty good here we have been stuck in limbo with my mil house and clearing it out.
My sil is in the process of moving to a new apt. With her boyfriend and is super overwhelmed and keeps telling me this is the biggest thing she's ever done signing a lease. I keep reminding her that she and her ex husband owned a house...she has it in her head she wasn't responsible for that or that it was different....nope...no way owning a house with a loan...bigger than renting an apt. She's also purchased a car in her name and made all the payments ....same deal!
So the point..she is taking all of her things out of their moms house.
Probably early Sept we will have to go up one way or another and get the things we want and take any left over furniture (we are giving a bunch away) to habitat or some other place we can find. Then get the house on the market. Once it is sold we will pretty much be done with hwr estate which will be a relief.
My nephew is home and doing well. He got a uti and had to go back to the hospital for a couple of days.
He really is doing great though.
I have been sewing masks to donate to anyone who needs them but can't afford 8-20 a mask!
I have also been working on curtains for the oldest's room. He hasn't wanted any for a year now he does...i bought some but I'm changing them because I didn't like the way they looked and I didn't want to buy fancy rods for his room...the curtains have grommets at the top.
So I'm revamping them along with Hemming them because they were longer than I thought they would be.
Things are good here. We are still mostly home...my oldest started working 1 day a week he wants more hours but I'm okay with this to start.
Youngest is doing some training with a few of his teammates. Masks have been mandated here for outdoors when you can't social distance so he has to bring one on runs now.
We aren't letting him do trail runs or go to other parts of the county because there are too many people. Which sucks but there has to be a balance....he's semi okay with it. They have postponed fall and winter sports. I'm not sure how logistically they are actually going to run 3 seasons in the spring as so many sports share spaces...
Personally I think they are holding off canceling anything so they don't have to deal with more complaints.
They are already fielding them because school is virtual until the end of Jan. Then it will be revisited and reassessed. People seem adamant that they are homeschooling and are owed money...they aren't getting this is just as hard for teachers.
It's a lot some days.... i miss my regular routines...i miss working...I miss being able to go out to eat and wander around stores just because we want to walk somewhere.
We are mostly home. We go out when we have to. We do take out and car date's. I'm not comfortable going into restaurants...
My husband does most of the errands...asthma, being overweight and having just one kidney put me at higher risk....the kidney doesn't but if I were to get covid I could lose my one kidney...that is a risk we have decided to try and avoid. So ...I stay home. I miss alone time lol...peace and quiet in my spaces and doing what I want without judgment from the family...sometimes its me who judges myself for wanting to just be somewhere alone.
My nephew had his second kidney transplant yesterday. His new donor kidney is his left and his first donor kidney is his right.
His creatine before surgery was 5.8 or 5.9 at its highest...
This morning his labs showed 0.8! They weren't expecting that for weeks if at all!!
My husband thinks it's because he has 2 working kidneys now (his original is still working just at an extremely reduced capacity).
I think he was working with a stronger team.
I am so excited for him!! ππ
