I think that shame can be very deceptive and its primary survival mechanism is convincing you that it is helpful
The same voice/instinct that tells you you're a piece of shit for sleeping in or you're disgusting for your body not looking the way you want it to will also tell you that actually, that is a *helpful* thought to have! That actually you're making progress towards your goals by being cruel to yourself
Habits built on shame sting and ache and they do not last! And they compound and only lead to more shame and pain
Here's what it doesn't want you to know-- if you eliminate that voice, you can be happy, and STILL grow! You can say "I slept in because I needed it today! That's okay :)" and maybe tomorrow you'll go to sleep a little earlier because you want to wake up earlier! You can say "I LOVE MY BODY!!!!" and exercise because you're trying to give yourself the best care you can!
And you will be HAPPY!
