Guess what just got planted in the seed garden @chefbjdennis. So excited to share these seeds! Known as Moruga Hill Rice, Trinidad Hill Rice or Upland Bearded Rice, it’s a variety of rice developed for dry cultivation for planting at elevation instead of water impoundments. The Merikans of Trinidad maintained this seed stock which was originally brought out of West Africa in 1789 by Captain Nathaniel Cutting and planted in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Kentucky in the first decades of the 19th century. Store your flower and veggie seeds in weekly pill containers.

We had this old cedar box (firestarter once came on it), so Dave made inserts and whiteboard dividers for it and we have a much better way to store and organize seeds than the 2 random shoeboxes I had been using.... Once we get past frost and I can plant the seeds for the wild, (adding a bunch of edibles ....borage, basil, cilantro, etc..) I will sort and decide which of the older packets (some of these are 5 years old) I want to keep for winter germination experiments and which will get fed to the earth.... @asouthernladysramblings it’s one of those containers from #michaelsartsandcrafts and I used the #silhouette #silhouettecameo I did this several years back and it’s been fabulous I stick the whole container in the freezer to stratify the seeds and it keeps them dry and organized.
