Re: references, what matters is how much they were relevant at the time of the Second Dawn. Now, having said that, it's 2023, and, you're right, Joffrey isn't a household name anymore, so he logically wouldn't be in 2042, so yeah, it doesn't make as much sense. But it does make sense for there to be frozen cultural references from the 2040s (i.e. things that would've still been relevant and discussed in the 2040s). Some of that will be stuff from our era, and some of it will be future stuff we have no knowledge of yet—or can make up.

Okay so Callie literally reminds me of Clarke, Raven, Lexa and Octavia all rolled into one human, traded of their personality on her. FEMALE POWER!

Also is it just me or my internet is fucking exploding after Alycia’s tweet and the cast interacting with her. Imagine if Lexa actually comes back, each time she been seen or mentioned this season I have almost lost it. I wont know how to react if she actually appears.

I’ve always been interested in how the Grounder Culture began and how it became what we saw in season 1 within 97 years and now we somewhat know. Although I’m very curious as to why we’ve never heard tales. It’s no coincidence that we’ve been shown all Madi, Jordan, and Hope were told stories of The Hundred but yet no Grounder ever knew their origin?? No stories about how Tree Crew are environmentalist forming together to survive on the ground? No stories about HOW Nightblood happened? No stories about the Clan leaders? Does Gaia know about Callie being the first Fleimkepa?

It makes sense as to why Becca is referred to as Pramheda because to Callie she was the first Commander with the Flame. She lead Callie to do the right thing to save the human race with Nightblood. And so I was kinda right that Cadogan wants the Flame because his family is on there and I still do believe he’s trying to bring her back.

So what I wanna know is what happened to Callie and August that made them put the Flame in Callie and how does Cadogan know? Reese? Does Reese meet up with them and challenges Callie for the Flame—challenging her to be Heda? Which this starts the conclaves? Because I’m going to get really mad if Trikru vs Azgeda rivalry is built on sibling rivalry.

We know that children are considered precious to Grounders, at least those not a freikdreina. Freikdreina happens due to radiation mutation, sort of like the complete opposite of Nightblood. I’m guessing Nightblood is recessive—a blood alteration that doesn’t lie in the genome rather just affects the bone marrow hence how they became so sparse from 2k+ Nightbloods. Sanctum had this same problem and that’s why Josephine wanted to pair people based on their blood genetics to produce more Nightbloods.

I’m really hoping we’ll get an explanation as to why there are 12 clans (already kinda figured it was because of Second Dawn relation) but maybe there was a different purpose to begin with them. Was Floukru always peaceful people by the lake? Or were they a ranking title to describe people? Sangedakru? Was this a job description or based on location? It’s odd how all the Clan names are descriptors of land: Ice Nation, Boat People, Broad Leaf, Tree Crew, Shallow Valley, Desert People, etc. Was this because of an expedition mission—to go and venture to see how much of Earth is habitable? If so, how did we get over to Egypt? Are Grounders overseas the same or different?

Descendants? How does that work? What we know is that royal descent is remembered as everyone knew Roan was the grandson of King Theo. Given 97 years, either Theo was the first King of Azgeda or the son of who built Azgeda. Maybe he’s related to Reese or Tristan. I can see it being possible that Callie kills Reese in the First Conclave for Hedaship and Tristin thus creates Azgeda whose only mission has ever seemed to be to get their asses on Heda’s throne and the Flame in their head. Which would explain why Azgeda was always fought against and everyone feared them having the Flame because they didn’t know why it was important to them. But you’d think being a descendant of the people who created your Kru would be something to brag about. Why is Azgeda the only Kru with a royalty system and all others have a chain of military power all following under the Heda? Why is it that the Hedaship isn’t a family deal? Why are kids collected from their families at young ages and raised to fight until one remains? What made Callie do this?

To find out Trig was created by a kid with a blend of English and Latin explains a lot. It explains why the passphrase for the Flame was “seeker higher things” aka acende supremis. We thought it was because of Becca, but really it was because of Callie who changed it from the original passphrase. It’s likely she did that because Reese read Becca’s book and new the passphrase to take the Flame. Cadogan mentioned that the language was a little bit different, so it did go through changes in those few 3-4 generations. It’s still possible that Trig was created for a language against enemies. Callie most likely taught August and those they trusted to be able to communicate when first establishing Grounder Culture. Other Grounders just picked it up as a coded language to understand them (like what Josephine did). We know Mt. Weather at some point tries to go to the ground so maybe some sort of war happens because they need Nightblood alteration but Callie and Co ran out of alterations. Maybe that’s why President Wallace and Cage were so hellbent on using Grounder blood to experiment with radiation exposure until they found a potential cure. They just never found a Nightblood.

It’s so bizarre that no-one knew about Skaikru. Callie was obsessed with Becca and she knew about Polaris being the 13th Station—the Ark was formed shortly after the Apocalypse 1—so how is it that Callie or any other astromy/space geek didn’t know about space colonies and astronauts? Understandable how Eligius Corp was forgotten as that was a private organization and the coverage ended when Becca went to space to engenieer Nightblood but like??what?? How do you not tell your children these bizarre stories about people exploring space and how the Apocalypse created Grounders (likely that no-one knew about Deciples and the Spaceball as Callie believed they were still in the bunker and Grounders kept away from Polis for awhile). Everyone in existence seems to know about Becca but not about anyone who actually created the culture(s).

It’s so iconic that Grounders were literally created as a rebellious act of a teenage girl against her cultist father because she wasn’t allowed to hang out with her childhood idol. The biggest “FU” in the galaxy. Callie is an icon and I refuse to believe there aren’t stories about her and August like there are stories about Clarke and Bellamy.

Also, what happened to Callie’s mother?? Did she live and find Callie?
