A potent Prohibition-era cocktail, the Scofflaw is thus named because it -the word; not the drink!- won a contest to find a term to describe the "lawless drinker" in 1924, and bartenders certainly didn't lack a sense of humour! It is a beautiful concoction, the whisky lifted by the herbaceous fragrance of vermouth, and balanced with the sharpness of lemon, and the delicate sweetness of a dash of grenadine! One would certainly bend the law for one of these; Happy Friday!

Ingredients (serves 1):

8 ice cubes

60 millilitres/2 fluid ounces (4 tablespoons) good Canadian Rye Whisky

30 millilitres/1 fluid ounce (2 tablespoons) dry vermouth

half a lemon

2 dashes Angostura bitters

1/4 teaspoon Grenadine 

Spoon ice cubes in a shaker.

Pour Canadian Rye Whisky and vermouth over the ice. Thoroughly squeeze in the juice of the lemon halve. Add two dashes Angostura bitters and Grenadine.

Close the shaker tightly, and shake energetically until well-chilled.

Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.

The Trump administration has willfully violated the Hatch Act. Again.

As a reminder, it is a violation of federal law to use any government resources (“anything of value”) for “any political purpose.” (5 U.S.C. §§ 7322(3)(A), 7323(a)(2).) It is also illegal for any federal employee to engage in political activity “in any room or building occupied in the discharge of official duties by an individual employed or holding office in the Government of the United States or any agency or instrumentality thereof.” (5 U.S.C. § 7324(a)(2).)

Despite this, the Trump campaign repeatedly used the White House--including the Oval Office itself--and the old Eisenhower Executive Office Building for campaign activity on Election Day. The campaign claimed that “The arrangement has been approved by White House counsel.” In reality, however, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel “was not consulted,” and is now investigating Trump’s apparent violation of the Hatch Act.

No but seriously the Scofflaw Polish restock on Friday is BRUTAL. They have about another 15 or so polishes, but ... I want a lot of them.
