In hindsight, I think part of why I didn't fall down the libertarian-to-fascist pipeline was that I always believed that dictators are not good things to have. Like what kind of liberty do you have under a dictator? And then all these dudes were like "heehee based Pinochet free helicopter rides teehee" which, to me, made it pretty clear most of these fuckers didn't actually believe in anything except "something something anti-Communism."
And ever since then I've come to learn that "anti-Communism" is just a blanket term you can use to literally justify anything, up to and including "whatever my favorite strongman wants."
Finding out that "libertarian" is a term Murray Rothbard stole from anarcho-communists really hit the nail on the head.
