And ye, am excited to see all the new spacebat content on my feed! And on my birthday month no less! Lik a present :3
1.) Was Hordak Horde Prime's general, and if so, how did that happen?
In all honesty, Iām very open to interpretation on this because there is a lot of room for multiple theories to be true.
My gut instinct is no, at least not in the way Hordak believed it to be. He may have had some very minor pull in other ways, maybe he ran a small ship for a while, or was in charge of receiving higher orders personally, but I canāt see him being a general in the way he thinks he was. He was also young, so if he did have any power itād likely be randomly assigned rather than any sort of climbing the ranks.
There couldāve been multiple reasons he believed he was a general, like Prime tricking him into thinking that before killing him (messing with his memories in almost a merciful way? So he could die thinking he was something? Not very in character for Prime but a possibility) or itās entirely possible he just lied to himself or was genuinely confused about his position.
One headcanon Iāve heard and particularly like (for le angst) is that Hordak was randomly chosen to be Primeās next body. That would give him an indication of power and perhaps he did even complete tasks like planning battles to prep himself/his body, and who knows if Prime ever even told him the true reason. This also couldāve been how Prime found out about the defect, during some sort of routine examination while Hordakās body was being converted to make room for Prime. I imagine whatever was being done didnāt help our boyās chronic pain eitherā¦
11.) Do you think Wrong Hordak will change his name, and if so, what do you think it is?
Hot take (?), not really? I see two possibilities but mainly probably not.
Obviously the famous fan-invented name Kadroh is cute, it grew on me after a while. I see it more as a nickname though. Maybe some closer friends/family call him by it, maybe almost everyone, but his legal name would stay Wrong Hordak. He would be comfortable being called either but I have this image in my head if it being his nickname with everyone were the case of him and Imp screwing up BAD and Entraptaāwho also calls him Kadroh or other nicknamesāgoes āWRONG HORDAK.ā and itās like your mom calling you your full name šš
I can also just see Wrong Hordak being his typical name. He doesnāt see anything wrong with it, even after meeting Hordak. He completely understands that it was a joke at first, but to him, it fits! He is the wrong Hordak, he wasnāt Hordak! It makes sense! I also think a small part of him likes to keep that momento to Hordak, who I believe he looks up to. He doesnāt see the āWrongā part of it meaning wrong, necessarily, more so being named after someone, like a Junior.
I think regardless, heād at least keep Wrong Hordak partially, because he likes that name and doesnāt see anything wrong with it :)
17.) How would you rank Hordak, Wrong Hordak, Imp, and Horde Prime from favorite to least favorite (or vice versa, depending on how you want to list them, and why?
Hi sorry lemme be basic but honest
Heās just heās everything to me. I hated him at first for years then after rewatch and rewatch he slowly crawled his way into my heart and became one of my favorite characters of all time and I admire the dedication. Just everything about him honestly (cutting this fairly short so I donāt yap about him too long lol), his character arc is meaningful and beautiful, his design and the way it changes to reflect him is amazing, I love the deeper darker parts of his past that we glance by, and just the way his entire story breathes life into the larger one. Heās the one we think wonāt be able to change or make it out and then he does. The āI am Hordak!ā scene? Shivers. Every time. Keston John freaking nailed his entire performance as all the characters he voiced in the show, but you can tell he went the extra mile for Hordak (GRAY SHUT UP ABOUT HORDAK) uh uhm anyway
I am not immune to Wrong Hordak and you shouldnāt be either. He stole all of our hearts and refused to give them back and no one is upset. Look at his big ol ears he didnāt mean it heās just a lil guy.
I love seeing his arc (even though it couldāve been taken more seriously) because it gives you glimpses into the horror that is Horde Prime and what the Spacebats suffer through behind and beyond everyone else. While he spends most of his time being the cutiest patootie, he just drops some of the most horrifying lines (āHow will Prime see my thoughts? How will he know I am faithful?ā and āFacial expression is a privilege reserved only for Prime.ā for a couple that pop into my mind. Scary stuff).
But he also shows change and growth, and that escape is possible. And I love him bonding with Entrapta. Theyāre so mother-son to me and I love her seeing Hordak in him and recognizing that heās his own person, and helping him to have a better start. Your honor I love my boy.
Heās perfect what do you mean.
I love him with Hordak and how much you can tell they genuinely adore each other. It shows Hordakās softer side way before he gets the chance to truly show it. And Imp is just the best. Heās chaos incarnate as a toddler. Etheria is not ready for teenage Imp.
Enough said Imp is Imp heās baby and Iād kill fof him. Only issue I see is not nearly enough screen time.
To be absolutely clear, I love all of these characters and it was hard to rank them. Just because heās the lowest does not mean I dislike him, heās just less in my brain than the others.
Prime is an amazing villain in that he just feels like everything. There is no escape because everything is already Prime. Heās so much larger than anything the first four seasons can comprehend. Literally thousands of years more advanced. It feels realistic because yeah, in real life, an empire with millennia of space travel and advancements would just steamroll any small planets. He makes me genuinely uneasy (positive, thatās his job) and you know exactly what heās here to do. The way he lowers himself to speak down to people and just ignores most conversations because you can tell heās been through all this before just strikes a sense of fear into me I canāt discribe. He couldāve had a bit more development but he did his job and well.
[hi its me so i never really know what characterization means in terms of āpopular headcanonsā or ācanon bitsā so Iām using a very loose definition of the word im sorry if i misunderstand the question okay? Okay.]
23.) What's your favorite characterization of Hordak, Wrong Hordak, Imp, and Horde Prime?
The quiet moments. The silence he had with himself away from the viewer and away from the world. All he was implied to have experienced that we canāt get to see. His life before, his rejection from Prime, his arrival to Etheria, his first breaths away from the hive mind, his decision to build the Etherian Horde, adopting Imp, the quiet moments he had alone in his sanctum, wondering about life. I wish we could see it but itās beautiful that we didnāt in a way. His life has been alone. Those bits are private, silent, untouched. Like an undisturbed relic left alone by time.
But uh but in less poetic terms.
I enjoy how much of an introvert he can be and how the fans depict that. He prefers to spend his time alone, and I think in the end he got such a beautiful life with Entrapta. He doesnāt need to face the world and how harsh itās been to him, be forced to see the atrocities he regrets but doesnāt remember. Hordak can hide away from the world and have his perfect, cherished private, shared with his sons and the love of his life. Heās finally happy in Dryl and he deserves that rest. The quiet moments alone donāt torment him any more. Theyāre the ones that remind him of his survival, as he walks the halls of the Crypto Castle, ears twitching as his wife zooms overhead in a vent, Imp curled up on his shoulder, hand tracing the dark halls where no one can reach to hurt him anymore.
He finds peace of mind knowing that his worries are over, and now in the quiet, his mind quiets too.
He helps the other spacebats discover their individualities and becomes a mentor to a lot of them. He takes it upon himself to guide them away from Prime and into the sunlight heās learned all about. He makes them food and helps them find their names and tells them all about how many things they can do now. I loooove seeing art/fics/takes on this.
Also heās legally adopted by Entrapta I will die on that hill and itās my favorite characterization. He takes after his mama and I like to think he dyes his hair purple post-Prime.
I love how affectionate he can be with Hordak, heās literally baby.
Also, love the headcanon that he finds a way to communicate without just repeating. Anything really works. Sign language, speech therapy, or a device Entrapta invents to help him speak for himself. I want him to be able to express himself further :33
I already touched on this but to reiterate: how he feels like heās more than everything. He is higher and surrounds every aspect of season five and itās so powerful. He views himself as a God and it shows in how heās portrayed. The fandom also does a wonderful job of showing the enormousity that his reach through wonderful symbolism in their fanart!
24.) What's your least favorite characterization of Hordak, Wrong Hordak, Imp, and Horde Prime?
Any sort of āheās abusiveā, āhe doesnāt understand emotion/regret what heās doneā, or āhe shouldāve had worse repercussionsā. When I hear stuff like that it makes me genuinely wonder if I watched the same show as the people saying that. Likeā¦no? Iāve also seen a lot of people say heās one dimensional and just a boring minor villain and buddy what show did you watch??? Heās a complex and incredibly emotionally interesting character. He goes through hardship and understands what heās done and has been tortured and has learned the better side of life and changed.
Also personal opinion but I really dislike takes that heās super old/that clones age differently. I just think it makes Entrapdak feel weird. Heās late twenties to mid thirties to me.
A lot of people characterize him as Hordakās replacement and it actually makes my blood boil a little. Heās treated like the new Hordak and used to shove Hordakās story aside.
Itās annoying because one of the central parts to his character is clones learning that they can be their own person.
Stop making him someone else.
Wrong Hordak is not Hordakās replacement. Hordakās arc was not stolen by Wrong Hordak. They are different.
Theyāre both unique characters and neither has to replace the other. They can live in tandom. It frustrates me when thatās pushed aside in favor of āooh, no more problematic Hordak, we have a fresh and better one!ā No? Heās his own person, please acknowledge that.
Also, he isnāt a bumbling idiot. Heās a bit behind and thinks differently due to his programming, but donāt act like heās just a prop or someone that needs to be treated differently. Eegh.
Also also, saw a take once that heād absolutely hate Hordak and would punch him if they ever met??? Nope.
Once again, Imp is perfect and has done nothing wrong in his life not once ever.
Only problem I have with how people view him is when people say he should stay with Kyle, Rogelio, and Lonnie. Thatās just such an unsatisfying end to me? Heās shown to genuinely care for Hordak and thatās very reciprocated. I donāt think heād be happy just being ripped away from that. Let my boy terrorize Dryl. He can be Prince Imp and live happily with Entrapdak and cause more chaos there and itās where heās meant to be.
Very much dislike how over-sexualized he can get sometimes? I understand that it is an intentional part of his character, both as he is a cult leader and definitely hurts his clones in a weird way, and as the audience, we are supposed to pick up on it, but I think the whole point is that weāre supposed to be uncomfortable? Itās meant to be part of his power and fear factor, and I completely understand some people thinking heās attractive but sometimes it takes away from his overall story/characterization when he becomes āsexy evil guyā rather than the horror he is. Wish a couple times the show had leaned a tad lighter on that lol
Thanks for the asks! Hope you enjoyed reading these because it took me an hour and a half to write them down coherentlyā
(Off to invade other peopleās asks :3)
