This is Ollie the Pit bull; Ollie passed away last year in October when someone decided to abuse him by stabbing him 50 times all over his body, as well as stuffing him in a suitcase with his paws hanging out for two days. Ollie was found by a police officer that urgently took him to an animal hospital where Ollie unfortunately passed away two days later. My argument is that we aren’t looking at the statistics correctly because yes, the dogs could be dangerous but in many situations the animal might have felt threatened and didn’t know right from wrong. We are quick to blame the dog, but don’t look behind it’s background psychology and living it’s living situation. Is the dog abused? Is not socialized? Was it neglected?

Although the goal is to get as many dogs and other pets new homes, we as a community should make sure these pets are being placed in good hands. Adopting a child is hard due to strict regulations and standards future parents have to pass and go through; the same should apply for these animals.
