@blackbeanproductions We are deeply saddened by the devastating attack at Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which resulted in the deaths of 17 people – 12 of whom were rangers that had dedicated their lives to protecting the park, its resources, and its wildlife, including the mountain gorillas. Our crew has been fortunate enough to see mountain gorillas several times whilst on various assignments in Africa, and they are incredible animals – and the people who have chosen to protect gorillas are truly remarkable. Without those working to save gorillas, we would never have the chance to experience them and all of their beauty. It is heart-breaking that the rangers of Virunga National Park were simply doing their jobs, following their passion, and doing what they could to conserve this wild space and the wildlife that call it home. The park has been vulnerable to repeated attacks by poachers, rebel groups and militias in the past, and it has been said that members of a Rwandan rebel group were responsible for this attack. The rangers working in this park put their lives on the line every single day. Your help is needed. If you can donate, even just a little bit, you will help to bring relief to the families of the fallen as they gather funds for the funerals of their loved ones. FOLLOW THE LINK IN OUR BIO to see how you can donate and make a difference. Without such brave rangers patrolling Africa’s parks, the future of our wildlife would be under extreme threat. We’ll always be hugely grateful for all that rangers do to protect our natural heritage, and we’ll never forget this tragic incident - an unimaginable loss for Virunga. #virunga #virunganationalpark #savegorillas #wildliferangers #rangers #antipoaching #wildlifeconservation #protectandpreserve https://www.instagram.com/p/B_fgulMpEOifVyanqtceHb-cdL1efhurZ3oDkc0/?igshid=4gntpdjguhqy
