Swordheart is definitely my favorite of the books by @tkingfisher that I've read. I especially love the dynamics between Sarkis, Halla, Zale, and Brindle during their adventures on the road.

Ok, I'm on chapter 24 of Swordheart, and I don't normally put this much of a chunk out, but this is just such a beautifully well-written interaction and example of solidarity and sense that I cannot cut it any more than this:

The Mad Russian artwork was commissioned by Pilot and later the Squadron's Operations Officer 1/Lt Andrew Burochonock, a New Yorker with Russian roots, who went by that nickname himself. The artwork was designed by S/Sgt Sarkis E. Bartigan and painted Sgt Enoch H. Wingert. The aircraft was assigned to the 65th BS on 20 January 1945. It survived the war and returned to the US in November 1945. Eventually scrapped at RFC Kingman, Arizona. Photo taken on Ie Shima, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan in October 1945.
Drew this fanart of my new favorite book. So I’m currently 56% done with Swordheart by T. Kingfisher and I’m entirely obsessed with their dynamic. Here’s a summary for anyone interested: It follows a woman named Halla, who picks up a sword only to find out there is an immortal warrior named Sarkis trapped inside it who is now bound to protect her. They spend the book traveling across the country so Halla can get the inheritance that her late husbands family is trying to steal from her.
