Hm... That's a pretty good scale.

Gomez is especially attentive of his kids, and though his enthusiasm may get taken away when praising one of his kids, he will quickly shift gears to support his other child, though it may take some guidance from his wife, Morticia, like we've seen in the animated series. So, let's put him at... 10.

Vernon Dursley is... clearly at the bottom of the scale, even if his weight scale only shows three digits, considering he puts more attention and care to his biological son than to his adopted son/nephew. Dudley has his own room while Harry sleeps in a storage space under the stairs. To be honest, the only good Dursley in the house is Dudley, though he starts off as an entitled shit, he actually apologizes to Harry later on for how horribly he treated him (sure, I only know this because it's in a deleted scene, but eh). So yeah, 1.

Obviously, there are worse fathers in media, just like there are better fathers in media. Now, let's look at Jaune's dad and... Oh... Uh... It seems he's... misplaced... Not to worry, though! We can just look at what kind of person he was based on what his kids are like.

First off, we have Jaune's dad's "infamous" quote of "all you need is confidence". And I put infamous in quotations because people don't like that this was something he learned from his dad. But, to be honest, I think this is a great first step. Jaune's dad is clearly offering life advice for his son. It's not perfect advice, but it is good advice, especially for a lanky teenager like Jaune who only just decided to become a huntsman.

People will harp on Jaune's dad, saying that he should have trained his son to be a huntsman, but... I don't think Jaune wanted to be a huntsman until he was much older. Ruby, Yang, Weiss, and probably everyone else in the show already had training under their belts from an early age and chose to go to Beacon to continue their training so they can become huntresses. Jaune... didn't, if I'm assuming right. Jaune basically did the same thing as hopping on a bus for boot camp- Wait, no. No, it's more like he jumps into a platoon, SKIPPING boot camp so that he can get that OJT. Then again, there's probably a better analogy for this, but my point is that I don't blame Jaune's inexperience as much on his dad as I do on Jaune himself.

BUT there's also one scene that shows us what kind of parents Jaune's dad AND mom were like. Jaune says in V3 that when he left for Beacon, his parents told him "Hey, if this doesn't work out, you can always come home". Normally, this is common rhetoric for parents telling their kids that they can always fall back to their family whenever they fail. But Jaune interpreted this as "You are going to fail, and we'll see you when you do". Jaune believes his parents don't believe in him, which, if you consider they raised him, they probably have good evidence to believe this.

That said, let's look at how Jaune's sister turned out. Saphron, whom we meet in V6, is a married homemaker mom who opens her home to her brother and his many, many, many friends. That said, I want to take this time to say that if my sister dropped in on me with a dozen people looking to crash for the night, I'm... hesitant... to welcome anyone but her into my home. But Saphron, champion Arc that she is, welcomes everyone. Overall, Saphron seems happy, like, genuinely happy with her son and wife. She even goes along with Jaune's plan to steal the bullhead from Cordovin.

I'm probably speculating here, but I think there's two ways to look at this. You could either see this as "Mama and Papa Arc kicked out their daughter and she's much happier having left them" OR "Papa and Mama Arc raised their kids to rely on each other because family always helps family". Me, I prefer the ladder, and the second of the two options.

Jaune walks through the streets of Argus. Confused, he follows the instructions that Ruby wrote for him. Everything looks weird to him. Everything is calm, friendly, and cold. When was the last time he saw snow?

He finally reaches his destination. A house in the middle of the main street. He rings the bell, and after waiting some time, someone opens the door.

Saphron: Jaune?

Jaune: Hey sis... I'm... I'm back

Saphron: *Hugs him* Thank god you are ok.

Jaune: *Hugs her back a little tighter* I happy that you are ok too.

Saphron: Jaune, is something wrong?

Jaune: Nothing, I just really missed you.

Saphron: Ohh~ I also missed you.

Jaune: Is Adrian and Terra home?

Saphron: No, Terra and Adrian went to the doctor for their annual checkup.

Jaune: I see...

Saphron: Come in.

Jaune: Thank you.

Jaune begins to look around the house. Instead of feeling at ease, he feels as if he is living in a very distant memory. Saphron takes a note of this and looks closely into her little brother's eyes. They look... lost.

Saphron: Is everything okay?

Jaune: Huh?

Saphron: You're looking around like you're looking for something.

Jaune: Oh... I'm sorry.

Saphron: Why not take a seat while I make us some tea?

Jaune: O-Ok

He sits on the couch while his sister retreats to the kitchen. After a few minutes she returns with two cups of tea.

Saphron: Here, this will help you calm down.

Jaune: Calm down?

Saphron: Jaune, I'm your sister. I know when you're not okay. Tell me what happened?

Jaune: Is nothing *Drinks the tea*

Saphron: *Looks at him worry* Jaune...

Jaune: *looks at her for a momento a put the cup down* Is complicated.

Saphron: I have time.

Jaune takes a deep breath and begins to tell him everything that happened. From the moment they arrived in Atlas, and when he fell into the Ever After. He told her that he spent years there, that every day was more difficult than the last. That there were moments when she wanted to "give up" but she didn't. In the end her persistence paid off. He met the famous Alyx and her brother Lewis, the Paper Pleasers, and finally found Ruby and her team. Then when he left, he was given the opportunity to continue his life. He was turn young again, but everything seems distant to him now.

Jaune: Then I asked Ruby to help me with the directions and then I arrived here.

Saphron: *Hugs him tightly, hiding her face on his chest* I'm sorry.

Jaune: Is ok, it wasn't your fault.

He then feels tears fall into his pants.

Jaune: Saphron?

Saphron: I'm sorry you had to go through that. I know being a Hutsman is dangerous, but this… this is too much. I'm sorry.

Saphron: I have great news. I have a girlfriend!

Mama Arc: *Happy* Oh my Oum! My baby has a girlfriend!

Papa Arc: *Happy* Good for you, Saphron.

Little Jaune: Good job, sis. I told you looks don't matter.

Mama Arc: *Gasp* Jaune!

Papa Arc: *burst out laughing* Oh my Oum!

Saphron: You little shit!

Mama Arc: Saphron!

Saphron then runs towards Jaune to strangle him.

Little Jaune: *Runs away* AAH! The orangutan wants to kill me!

Saphron: Come here asshole!!

Mama Arc: You two, stop it! Nicholas say something!

At the Cotta-Arc family home, inside is decorated with balloons and paper dinosaur figures, and a big cake with little dinosaurs on it.

Everyone was there, from family to close friends. Mama Arc and the rest of the Arc sisters are there playing with Adrian acting like dinosaurs, while Papa Arc talks to Terra's parents.

Jaune's friends also arrived. Weiss gave him a big stuffed animal of a Brachiosaurus. It was so big that he almost couldn't fit through the door. Ruby and Yang gave her a dinosaur tent. Blake a dinosaur coloring book, Oscar a Dino pillow, and Ren and Nora a dinosaur transformer that turned into a plane. Everyone was here, except for his favorite uncle, Uncle Jaune.

Terra: Where is your brother?

Saphron: He's on his way. He says he has a big surprise for Adrian.

Terra: I hope it's not a pet gecko. I kill him

Saphron: *Chuckles* Don't worry. I made sure it's nothing like that.

*Ding Dong*

Saphron: Oh! Is him.

Saphron goes to the door and opens it, revealing her brother dressed as a jungle explorer and covered in dirt. In his hands he held a very peculiar box.

Jaune: The best uncle has arrive.

Saphron: You are his only uncle. And what's up with the costume?

Jaune: The costume is part of the gift. You'll see.

Saphron: Okay, but be careful with my carpet. It's hard to wash the dirt off of it.

Jaune: Sure.

They walk like this where you all are and Saphron announces the arrival of Jaune to her son.

Saphron: Adrian, your uncle is here.

Adrian: *Happy* Uncle Jaune!!!

He runs with his little legs towards his uncle. Jaune reaches down and hugs him.

Jaune: Happy birthday champ. Look, I have a very special gift for you.

Adrian: Really?

Jaune: Yes, look.

Jaune puts the box he brought in front of him and starts to tell a story.

Jaune: You see Adrian, to get your gift I had to make a dangerous excursion to Isla Sorna in Costa Rica. A place far away from here. I faced dangerous weather, harmful vegetation that wouldn't let me pass, but what was most dangerous for me was the creature that protected this treasure.

John moved his hand to the lid of the box while Adrian was looking forward to seeing the treasure his uncle brought him. You can see how his eyes are lit with excitement and curiosity.

Jaune: I brought you….

He opens the box.

Jaune: ...A dinosaur egg.

Inside the box was a large egg, lying in what appears to be a dinosaur nest, filled with dirt and plants. The egg has its own vase. Jaune takes it out so that Adrian can see it more closely.

Adrian: *Smiling* MOM!! MOM!!! A dinosaur egg!!!

Saphron: Yeah, your own dino egg. So cool!

Adrian delicately takes the egg and holds it up for all to see.

Adrian: *Really excited* I HAVE A DINOSAUR EGG!!!

While he showed his egg to everyone. Saphron whispers to Jaune.

Saphron: Did you make that egg?

Jaune: Oh no, it's a real egg.

Saphron: A real egg?!

Jaune: Not from a dinosaur, but from an ostrich. I just put a little dirt on it to make it look like a dinosaur egg.

Saphron: Oh, that's cool. Thanks baby brother. You made his day.

Jaune: Don't mention it. That's my job as the cool Uncle.

Saphron: You are his only uncle.

Saphron: Jaune, what are you doing with my son?

Jaune: *Carrying Adrian in a Baby Sling and on his back he has a backpack full of packages* Deliveries.

Saphron: Give me back my son.

Saphron: Damn, my phone has no battery. How will I listen to my music?

Grandma Arc: You can't listen to music without your phone? HA! Back in my day we had CD-s.

Saphron: What are CD-s granny?

Grandma Arc: CD-s nuts! HAHAHA!

Mama Arc: Grandma!

Saphron: Alright, let's get you to the morgue, grandma.

Jaune: Saphron, Mom told me to give you $5 and go buy her some butter at the store.

Saphron: Well, you can tell Mom to go fuck herself.

Jaune: Ok, *walks away* HEY MOM!
