ok, I'm really not on richard's side on this one. why should gillian go to jail for a crime she didn't commit (a crime that nucky committed btw), just so he and julia could have tommy? she's literally a wreck and they're still kicking her when she's down.

I'm sorry, what's willie's problem? his dad risked everything to keep him out of jail for some dumb jealously accident and almost got shot by his own brother and he's what? ashamed? eli is not the brightest bulb, but he would do anything for his family. willie just wants to be cool like nucky, when his father, day and day again shows him that other things are much more important.

oh my god, I can't tell you how glad I am that eli is alive and tolliver is dead. my moral compass is gone at this point. but eli should've really just come to nucky right away.

when and by who was richard shot? I'm very confused. yeah no, that was a weird ending scene for richard. I'll stick to my fabulous fanfic au. (it's called "'neath the old apple tree" on ao3, in case anyone's interested)

ok so a.r. is not dead. I read that the real one died in 1928 and season 5 takes place in 1931, make sense. apparently they wanted to make a lot more seasons but it got too expensive. season 5 also only has 8 episodes :( no mayer and lucky spinoff needed, I just want those 3 missing years! also no goodbye scene for a.r., he was just margaret's landlord in the last shot, how random lol.

should've taken my 2 year watching break after season 4, not 3… Idk that was a bit of an unsatisfying ending, a lot of loose ties. I mean I know there is one more season, but considering how much later it takes place, I feel like we just won't get certain answers. or maybe we will idk. I just hope eli gets back to his family, once again.

and what terrible thing has he done to tommy except making him live in a brothel? of course not ideal, but I'm pretty sure he's more traumatized from seeing richard kill a whole house of people than seeing people having sex… and keeping tommy away from his grandmother is only gonna traumatize him more imo. or am I forgetting something crucial? she did not molest him or anything, right?

ok, I take it all back, be happy with roy instead, gillian! I really hope she gets a happy ending :')

why is she telling the story as if she was responsible for jimmy's death or as if she killed the guy for no reason? didn't she kill that guy who looked like jimmy bc nucky told her to? also why did she pick that specific murder? she could've told him how she killed the commodore instead, roy would've understood.

I think the plotline about the black community in the 20s is really interesting. I've never really thought much about this time of segregation and how there were class dynamics including colorism withing the community. I've definitely never seen it from their perspective. and how gross the racism was. like just the fbi people finding it crazy how black people want to liberate themselves.

a.r. is not in the heroin business anymore? good time to reconcile with charlie, no!? he also looks a bit healthier than at the beginning of the season. and I totally forgot he had a wife. no, I do vaguely recall it, but I thought they only got engaged. I'm sorry, but this guy is definitely not into women.

also, I have recently noticed that all the female characters wear make up to bed. not only when they have sex for example, but when they're just sleeping.

did dr narcisse (great name btw) just tell daughter to just not have depression :|

glad to see margaret back on slightly, but only slightly, unsavoury business and a.r. back to his usual cheeky smug self. and I have been thinking this for a few episodes now, but he somehow reminds me a bit of morrissey. current morrissey, not 80s. they have a similiar half smile which I find equally endearing as unsettling. and they are both little shits, only in different ways. (and let's not forget the gay/ace thing.)

every once in a while I have this strong feeling that I have seen a scene before, but out of context. either I've watched youtube clips of this show before I properly watched it (entirely possible, but I think I'd remember that) or this show is more repetitive than I thought.

Idk why, but it makes me so happy to see eli being domestic. he's the only one in this show who really has a fulfilled private life (al capone seems ok too, but that's pretty much it).

but it's so funny to me nobody in this show can speak an ounce of german. even eddie, who is supposed to be german, sounds ridiculous. this happens a lot in american movies, but I've never seen it in a tv show that has a rather important german character so far.

why are we in brooklyn all the time and margaret hasn't come up yet??
