Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius- June 5, 2020
This summer’s first eclipse in Sagittarius, the sign of faith and expansion, happens close to the South Node of karma. A Penumbral Eclipse is not as strong as other types of eclipses, but we’re still going to feel it! It will bring wrap-ups, results and peak moments in the area of higher education, courses, travel, publishing, religion and spirituality and it can help us shed those beliefs and aspirations that are holding us back instead of propelling us forward.
The best medicine these days will be laughter and curiosity, especially as the Eclipse opposes retrograde Venus in Gemini. Many of us will be particularly curious about past experiences or relationships, where truths that we didn’t know before can be unveiled now. How do you relate to your ex, to your past learning experiences, to your old friends? This Eclipse is an opportunity to look at your choices, especially in your relationships, and to see if they’re still in harmony with your truth.
As the Gemini Sun opposes the Sagittarius Moon, we’re called to balance out the energy of these intellectual signs, finding a higher meaning in our daily activities and a critical perspective in our spiritual life. Communication will be an important focus during this time. Writing a journal, a poem or a story can help us through mirroring our inner landscape.
With the South Node of karma now in Sagittarius, what we have to collectively leave behind is a tendency to jump to conclusions, a higher-than-thou attitude and an unrealistic sense of optimism. This way, we can take a step forward toward embodying the Archer’s best traits: enthusiasm, courage, generosity and wisdom. On this Eclipse, we could think that wisdom comes from integrating different perspectives, finding divine sparks in a multitude of forms… and making peace with our past.
In close, tense aspects with Mars and Neptune in elusive Pisces, this Eclipse can intoxicate us with a good dose of confusion and idealism. It’s a wonderful time for daydreaming, creating, being kind to others, sending out good thoughts into the ether and trusting that they’ll reach their destination. It’s less of a good time for life-changing decisions or big risks; we could tend to blow things out of proportion or see situations unrealistically, especially when it comes to relationships.
With fiery Mars in Pisces, the sign of belief, and the Moon in faith-fueled Sagittarius, some of us could get caught in heated debates. The idea of justice could feel more palpable than ever, on both a personal and a collective level. Stay mindful of how your sense of morality is influencing your behavior and find understanding for those who don’t share your perspective. We need tolerance (coupled with a realistic outlook) more than ever.
With mutable, versatile signs Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces highly charged, this Eclipse requires flexible thinking, adaptability and curiosity. Activating the energy of Virgo, the remaining mutable sign, can help us see things from a more critical perspective if we tend to get carried away. You can work with this sign by focusing on your daily tasks, de-cluttering, reading a book about relationships or faith… or asking the Virgos in your life about their opinion on your latest decision (hint: they might take the wind out of your sails, for your own good).
If you have planets or important points around the 15th degree of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces, you will feel the influence of this Eclipse the most!
