SM: I've been seeing a lot of people actually comparing Alyssa Thompson's style to Christen Press' style. And I think particularly with these goals scored this weekend that cut that they did to cut the defender did look eerily similar. It's just like the speed and the sharpness with which they're able to like send defenders the wrong way.

And I keep thinking about this for Alyssa that having Press as a teammate and kind of a mentor is such a valuable tool for her to have as she continues not only this like great run of form she's having for Angel City and the national team so far this year, but going forward as she tries to create kind of her own legendary career.

BS: There were moments throughout this game where I was watching Alyssa run, and I was thinking she even kind of runs like Christen.

SM: I think watching Press and Alyssa and their bond, just honestly through the TV screen and through pictures and through social media, has been, like, such a treat. It's really, really cool to see some of those things get kind of get passed down.

BS: The celebration, like, first Christen's celebration, like, you could just tell how ecstatic she was and the team was. And then when Alyssa scored, Christen's excitement for Alyssa, like, it was just it was so lovely to watch.
