what keeps my hope for kingdon alive is the amount of material we got of them in season 2. To me it felt like a crazy amount of material. Not only did they share a lot of scenes together but even when they weren’t in the scene together they would have the same patient. Also, i think its interesting that mel also had quite a bit of scenes with santos which can tie back to langdon in a way too.
Absolutely, anon. If I’m not mistaken we dealt with the same fraternal propaganda after s1, they could’ve easily killed langdonmel in s2 and it wouldn’t have been inorganic either, they did spend just one shift together and had zero contact for the next ten months where Mel probably had to listen to scandalous rumours about him. But they intensified their bond and gave them fanfic scenarios. So, i truly think we should just go by what happens onscreen in s3 and use that to inform our takes instead of ragebaiting ourselves with what the cast keeps saying, ‘cause they ain’t going to be changing their talking points.
You know, i really don't think Taylor or Patrick or Noah are trying to "throw shippers off the scent" of langdonmel going canon - I've accepted that. Pdeardz really, actually, with their whole chest believe they're playing it fraternal/platonic which is a whole other thing to unpack lol. BUT... the thing that still has me clinging to hope is that these actors don't know what the next episode script will be until the last minute, so they're fully speaking of langdonmel in the context of season 2 only. I also firmly believe both Scott and Cynthia KNOW how popular this ship is and Cynthia, who is now a head writer and producer, and who knows this show is primarily for entertainment, won't lose sight of their popularity. I was really surprised that Scott, who once called them fraternal, was casually joking about them "not being in bed" at the UCLA panel - Now, what this might entail for langdonmel's dynamic in the next and future seasons we don't know, but I really hope these writers are smart enough to build on the ambiguity of their relationship, I'll be more than satisfied with that.
