Back with more RWBY liveblog my dudes. Chapter Ten: The Badge and the Burden, Part Two.

Figured Weiss should be the starting clip, since this is her arc.

Because honestly, Ruby’s being a less than optimal leader. But this is only the first day.

Weiss isn’t having a good time of it. She’s out here desperately trying to impress the professor, probably in an attempt to make up for what Ruby is doing.

And now she’s fighting a Grimm in a cage. Well probably not in the cage, but we’ll see.

“Ren, we need to talk.“

“It can’t wait for after the mission?“

“No,” Adam growled. “It can’t.“

The air was thick with tension, all four members in bad moods. The past few days gave them no chance to feel anything but that. The conflict with Robyn and her group. Jacques getting the seat on the Council. The election night massacre.

And now this.

“What is this about?“ Ren asked, calm as ever.

“Do you agree with Ironwood?“

Adam’s question was not as calm. It was hardly a question even. A demand. An accusation. 

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because there is nothing more we can do right now,“ Ren reasoned. “Look, people need this communication back.“

“I am sure the people down below in Mantle need safety from the Grimm,“ Adam glared his teammate down. “What Ironwood is doing is absolute tyranny! People are left open to Grimm attacks!“

“Which is why we go out there and fight,“ all eyes turned to Mercury. “I don’t like it either, but let’s be honest. Salem and her crew have been running circles around us because we keep her secret hidden. That’s why she has the advantage. Once everybody knows who she and her associates are, we can have some fighting chance.“

“Or we will just increase the negativity and let all the people in Mantle die for it,” Jaune whispered. ”... One of the victims of the massacre... I knew her. Her name was Olivia. Nice woman. Had a great daughter. I saw her among the victims on the news. I can’t help but ask myself... If Ironwood didn’t push people to such despair, maybe she and others wouldn’t be there. Maybe one of the kids I looked after would still have a mom.”

“You think I want these people suffering?” Ren raised his voice. He didn’t shout. But it was clear he no longer played calm and cool. ”Everyone I ever cared about was taken away from me, Jaune! Do you know why? Because we grew complacent. Because we thought we were safe enough. But that illusion got shattered by a single Grimm! If something like that never happens again, then I am fine with the sacrifices we make.”

“It’s easy to make these compromises, isn’t it?“ Adam scoffed. “Especially when you are not the one paying the price.“

The room fell silent once more.

Ren took a deep breath and pushed Adam aside. Mercury followed behind him.
