Sorry I'm just getting a bit emotional about the optimism of TMA again. I don't know man, something about the specific way that the finale changed from what it was once meant to be to what it is now. Crazy to think that the plan at the beginning was for Jon to end up truly alone, with Martin betraying him as an avatar of the Web (or later on being taken away from him by the Web by force and uh. non-consensual spider-ing.) But then Martin was less a puppeteer and more a lonely defender and so he couldn't become an avatar. And then Jon and Martin were so so sooo important to each other in s5 that Jonny couldn't let Annabelle take Martin. Sure the magnus archives sure is a tragedy distributed by rusty quill and licenced under a 4.0 noncommercial sharealike international licence or whatever but it is not pessimistic. Did the love change the outcome? Not really. Could it have? Probably not. Did it change anything? Stars above, it changed everything that mattered. It wasn't important on a cosmic scale but neither are we and so even if the Fears, things of cosmic greatness, do not care whether Jon dies in the Panopticon alone or with Martin, we do.
