Autism culture is when you have to mentally prepare for (or are uncomfy with the thought of) a day you know isn't going to follow your usual routine coming soon.

Taking a year-long hiatus off from college feels so fucking weird
Albeit it's better for my mental health, yet I feel like my routine is fucked up because, during this time of year, I should be starting classes.
9th January 2022
I am a bit more organized in the last two days. Something made me sleep all day for the rest couple of weeks, making me unproductive as hell.
I still fail at waking up early and going to bed before 3 am, but adding more green tea and detox teas to my routine and buying an under desk bike somehow helped my mood. It is not a 100% improvement but I can feel the difference.
Hello! Does anyone have any tips on schedule or routine changes?
For me, planning that there will be a change or going into the situation thinking "it may change" helps greatly. For example, I always take a shower at night. My brain doesn't mind if I skip a shower if I'm tired or whatever, but it gets really stressed out if j take a shower in the morning instead. If I think and plan the whole day before that I will be taking a shower the next day instead, then I feel a lot less uncomfortable with that change.
A lot of changes can't be planned like that though. I also try to break up my routine into smaller routines. So that if I'm interrupted or I forget something it's less stressful. Like my routine to get ready is sperated into 'stuff I do in the bathroom' and 'stuff I do in the bedroom' instead of one big 'stuff I need to do to get ready'. Then I do part 1, can get distracted/be interrupted, then do part 2. Does that make sense?
Overall, planning and thinking about the change helps. If you're talking about entire routines changing (like if you moved), trying to keep the old routine might be too stressful bc the location has changed. Some people might do better sticking to the old routine as close as possible. I would do better planning and creating a new routine specific to that location (if possible).
Anyone else have tips???
autism culture is freaking out when your parents buy you a new toothbrush and throwing out the old one without asking
