that was comun's post actually, not mine. I think their take still holds up pretty good but I'll give you another view on the matter as well

lb6 is about how there will always be something worth saving. there will always be good in the world.

fairy britain at first sight is an idyllic fairyland. the weather is always fair, nature is beautiful, people pass their days doing whatever they find fun. soon enough we find things aren't actually so perfect, morgan is a tyrant, mors run rampant, and so on. but then we dig even deeper. fairies keep humans as livestock. those considered weak or useless are ruthlessly discarded. the land itself is littered with corpses. those who attempt to bring peace are hailed as saviors until it's no longer convenient and they are executed instead. the more we learn of fairy britain's history the deeper its wretchedness goes, until we learn that even its very conception is steeped in sin. the fairies who were supposed to forge excalibur shunned their duty out of selfishness and so sefar ravaged the entire world. but even after seeing the undeniable consequences of their actions the six fairies refused to accept responsibility or atone. cernunnos was sent to punish them but was too kind to go through with it, and they abused that kindness to kill him and turn his corpse into new land to live on, to pretend everything was fine again. and at the end of it all oberon reveals himself to be vortigern, the land's own wish to die, because it is too wretched to be allowed to exist.

but even in this land wretched down to the marrow of its bones there is goodness. no evil goes unrewarded and no good deed remains unpunished but still there are people who try to do good. there are rob and wag, who opened the gates for the people escaping sheffield and waved mashu goodbye knowing they wouldn't ever leave that tower again. there is barghest, who fights her own nature as calamity every moment because she believes in the knightly ideal of protecting the weak. there is tonelico and her entourage, who even after being betrayed by the fairies once was determined to try and save them again, who even after being betrayed by them twice still remained determined to save britain even if its people refuse to be saved. there is percival and the round table army, and gareth, and the discarded fairies of wales. there is woodwose, an unpleasant person no matter how you look at him, establishing restaurants as part of fang clan culture so that they might coexist with other clans more easily. there is aurora, perhaps the most selfish fairy of all, who saved melusine just to look good in front of her entourage but in the end died thinking that at least she did something for someone else even just once.
