when I was a kid my mother wanted a robot child
Literally. No metaphors or anything I'm telling you out loud she wanted a child made of metal and code
When she said it like that I wanted a metal sibling too, someone who would join in with my mischief without fear of breaking. A little brother, for me to be better than. Both older and younger than me at the same time, better than me at math but able to hide my own social lack with his lack of humanity. I built a perfect world where I had a robot brother who I knew best of all, the way that children do. I think somewhere in there was the fantasy of being listened to, of being allowed time with my siblings that wasn't protective. The dream of being encouraged.
My mother bought me a robot cat once. And a robot fish. We weren't allowed live pets in the rented houses I grew up in. Eventually the cat lost its spark, the pre-programmed movements became rote. We found the water sensor on the fish, learned how to make it flop and 'swim' through a drop of spit. The magic of robot life shattered by the realty of toy limitations.
We took apart the cat. And my robot baby doll. Tore off their skin like taxidermy, knew them more intimately through their insides. I was taught to look at how things worked, to break the illusion of life. No real tail wagging, just a string laced through plastic joints ; no real eyes blinking, just magnetic eyelids operating on a loop. One of my other dolls just had a hollow where her brain should be - you could take off her wig and see it whenever you wanted.
Would she have taken me apart too, if she could?

Branzy for the past couple of weeks has been working non stop on a project a robot child. It's in the final stages so soon he's going to have the little guy following him around. There is one problem how's Clown going to react.
Alloy also has issues with his bosses, though they are slightly different to Justin’s. You see, they can’t really afford to HURT Alloy all willy-nilly. Here’s the thing: him being a robot actually changes a LOT of things. While humans can fix themselves via natural healing, damaging a robot when you don’t have the skills to actually repair it is not feasible. They know they can’t threaten him with harm because of this: he can do basic repairs, but if they damage him too severely that he can’t work on himself, they’ll end up with an unusable robot and without the ability to fix him nor any knowledge of who made him.Â
He still is a bit scuffed up, but he can’t even feel physical pain to some degree because he opens HIS BODY up to repair himself all the time! He’s completely used to pain!
So if he has the benefit of not being physically intimidated by them, then what keeps him working for such assholes??
Well, black mail for the most part.Â
While HE may be invulnerable to most physical attacks, his friends aren’t. Specifically Lexi.Â
Not only does Lexi have NO parental super vision, he has late developing powers and is far weaker then spiders his age. Plus he’s one of the only spiders in the village, so he wouldn’t be hard to find and Alloy knows that. It puts him in a bad situation, where he doesn’t want to stop working for them not just because of the strange emotional attachment to them, but because he KNOWS Lexi will be hurt if he does and feels that it’s his responsibility to stop it.
But adding another layer of complexity to the situation, he doesn’t WANT Lexi to know what’s going on, so whenever Lexi pesters him to just cut contact with those horrible people already, he refuses without explaining why and it drives Lexi nuts.
Gir and Minimoose’s reaction when they watched their master suddenly get abducted.

Riddler from a different universe: Riddle me this! Who's black, and owns a steamroller!
Proceeds to run Scarecrow and his double ganger over.
Not a furby, but another robot quarantine child! This is Groovy Smoothie, an i-cat. As a kid, I always wanted an i-dog back when they were big, but I didn’t even have an mp3 player back then... Recently, I went down an internet rabbit hole and discovered a whole line of i-pets was made, besides the i-dogs... so of course, I had to get the cat! Groovy Smoothie is so adorable, and I was very lucky to get her little scarf and leg warmers included in her purchase! Watching her bop to the music I play for her is quite possibly one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
