The anthology comic Action Comics 276 was published with a cover date of May 1961. Sigh… I honestly hate how Pepper Potts had her iconic freckles covered in make-up very early into Iron Man’s original run in the 60s…
Not only does this feel like a reinforcement of sexist societal beauty standards, but I personally think that Pepper looks much prettier with her freckles visible! They help make Pepper’s design more visually distinctive when compared to other female characters from Silver Age Marvel comics.
From Tales of Suspense (1959) #44, #48 & #50 by Stan Lee, Robert Bernstein, Larry Lieber, Don Heck & Steve Ditko.
Psychoanalysis, issue #1 via EC Comics.
