✰　Riley Arden Hughes was born on April 18, 2005 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

✰　Her relationship with her parents is fairly simple. They are her biggest cheerleaders and she is always going to them for advice and help when she needs it.

✰　The Hughes family themselves are very close. Even when they're separated by distance, they still support each other to no end. They're always there for each other.

✰　At 7 years old, Riley was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

✰　It was over the summer in Toronto and her parents noticed that she was drinking a lot of water and one day, the siblings were out on the lake and Quinn got very worried over how skinny Riley was looking. He mentioned it to their parents and they took her to the doctor where she was diagnosed with Type 1.

✰　Riley is tough though. How could she not be?

✰　In the summer, when she plays hockey with her brother's, she's just as rough as they are and it throws off a lot of people who don't know them well.

✰　She's also rough with their friends. She doesn't let up, especially with guys like Cole and Trevor. She's known them forever and she will definitely check them if she needs to.

✰　She's also the strongest chirper. She will chirp anyone and everyone if the situation arrives. It's how she shows she likes that person… or deeply despises them.

✰　She's a health nut. Her and Quinn share that. While Jack and Luke obviously make sure they aren't consuming utter trash, Riley and Quinn care about the quality/origin of what they're eating. She's all about organic, locally grown food. She just can't follow Quinn down the "gluten free" alternatives for certain things. This girl loves her pasta.

✰　On top of that, she loves yoga.

✰　Despite her being a "health nut" , she’s notoriously bad at checking her own levels; her boyfriend, brothers, or her parents often have to be the ones to ask "have you checked your sugar lately?" when they notice her getting cranky.

✰　She has a bad habit of getting "hyper-focused" on something and forgetting to eat lunch, only to realize two hours later that she’s crashing hard.

✰　She's loves animals and always wanted pets as a kid but her parents declined, citing their constant travel for not only her dad's job but also her brothers' games.

✰　Luke got her the job running the socials for the NTDP when she was sixteen. Their social media was being run by a forty-three year old man who was also managing several other things. They needed some fresh blood and Luke was more than willing to suggest his media savy sister.

✰　Social media is Riley's bread and butter and she loves managing the team's socials and making content.

✰　She’s a total "creative chaos" type; her desktop is a nightmare of unsorted files and her camera bag usually has at least one loose organic snack bar crumbling at the bottom.

✰　She is the queen of "I know it’s in here somewhere"—usually found digging through a massive tote bag for her keys, her Dexcom, or a lens cap while someone waits on her.

✰　She’s incredibly perceptive about other people’s emotions but can be totally oblivious to her own needs until they become an emergency.

✰　She’s a "talker." She can hold a conversation with literally anyone, from the arena janitors to the team owners, which is exactly why she’s so good at getting people to open up on camera.

To Rutger, having a Canadian girlfriend was no different than an American girlfriend, until September last. October was all fall, Halloween and.. thanksgiving which he wasn’t used to being so early in the autumn season, which meant he ate 3 big meals about 2-4 times every month for 3 months.

She had been baking all afternoon for their dinner at her grandparents, y/ns parents were supposed to fly in to Pittsburg last night but the flight got cancelled, so it’s just rut and y/n and her grandparents who moved to Pittsburg after living in Toronto for 10 years, which y/n loved since now that she moved with rut, she gets to see them more often.

There was so many ingredients stocked in the house, Rutger couldn’t tell what was for thanksgiving and what wasn’t, so when he cut up an Apple and put it on a plate with some peanut butter, he wasn’t expect his girlfriend to seem so frustrated.

“Rut those were for the pies!” She groans and puts her head in her hands on the counter.

“Babe, it’s 1 apple, I’m sure it’s fine”

“I’ve never made it with just 4 apples what if it turns out weird” Worry began to settle in her, something she’s always done is want to impress her family and she looked to baking for this, and succeeded since now she gets signed up to bake things for all family events.

“Baby. Your family loves all the things you bake, one apple won’t make a difference, but if it makes you feel better I will go to the market and buy you one apple to make you happy”

“No don’t do that, just make some soup or something for dinner since your hungry”

“sounds like a plan, tomato or chicken?”

“You know the answer to that” she whispers to him and he smiles while placing a kiss on her head. “Chicken it is”

He spent the rest of the evening helping her bake for the dinner tomorrow and asked around a million questions about her family.

“Your grandmas isn’t allergic to flowers right-”

“Rut” she sighs and turns to him, making him freeze with the scrub brush in his hand.

“My family is going to love you, I don’t want you to stress over it ok? You know so many things about them just by me telling and you remembered that’s amazing. I love you so they’ll love you I promise”
