Pairing: will smith hockey x fiancé!reader
Prompt: On your wedding day, Will for the life of him canât get his hair right. Heâs convinced he needs you to do it, so best man Mack comes to the rescue with the only person who can fix this, you
requested!
âI donât know what youâre stressing over.â Mack says, leaning against the wall as Will continues to mess with his hair.
âIt doesnât look right. Why out of all days does it pick today?â
Mack listens, hearing the stress in his best friendâs voice get louder and louder.
âOkay man. What can I do? Like actually because youâre starting to stress me out and Iâm not the one getting married today.â Mack says, trying and failing to lighten the mood.
Will just stares at Mack through the mirror, not finding the situation funny. Itâs his wedding day, heâs marrying you. His favorite person on the entire planet and his hair wonât sit right.
âI can go get Cat, she might be able to help. Or Iâm sure your mom or sister can-â Mack starts to offer, getting shut down immediately.
âThey are all with Y/N. I donât want to drag them away from her.â
âIâm sure she wonât mind helping her son fix his hair.â Mack comments, adjusting his tie a little bit.
âI know, but trust me, I love them but they would probably make it worse.â
âOh!â Mack exclaims, his gummy smile over taking his face. âI didnât know the groom had jokes!â
âShut up!â Will exclaims, a small smile finally gracing his face.
âYou could just have Y/N do it.â Mack says, filing it down to that being the absolute last solution.
âI canât see her beforehand!â
âWell obviously you canât. But you could just keep your eyes shut.â The amount of sarcasm dripping from Mackâs words made Willâs eyes roll. âJust stay here, and stop fidgeting. Iâve got a plan.â
âMack- your plans freak me out. I canât fix it I just need-â
âNope. Too late! Stop touching it!â Mack yells, running out of the room before Will can hold him back.
You and Will picked an outdoor venue, choosing an old vineyard right on the ocean. Even with the San Jose sun beating down, the wind carried a cool breeze to keep everyone comfortable. So, Mack didnât break a sweat jogging over to the âladies sideâ as the moms were calling it. He followed the sound of laughter, before coming to a closed set of doors.
Mack knocks, ignoring the buzzing of his phone which he was positive was Will threatening him.
Willâs mom opened the door, a bit of shock evident on her face as she took in Macklin.
âWhat are you doing? Is everything okay?â She asks right away, but quiet enough to not alarm anyone.
âEverything is okay, but can I come in? I want to talk to Y/N if I can.â He asks sheepishly, knowing it was probably weird, and a very tall order to ask to speak to the bride only an hour before the wedding.
Willâs mom moves her gaze back towards what Mack presumes is the women, before nodding her head and letting him in.
âMack?â You ask, noting his presence as everyone turns to look.
âI know this is probably the most unconventional thing, but Will is having a grade A hair crisis.â Mack starts, trying to through some jokes in. âItâs not living up to his standards or whatever. He says youâre the only person who can do it right.â Mack says, taking in his best friendâs fiancĂ© in a wedding dress.
Mack loved you like a little sister, even though you were only a few months younger than Will, which still made you older than Macklin. But, he treated you like a younger sister, and he had to admit you looked absolutely stunning, Will was going to pass out when he saw you.
Grace was the first person to laugh at Mackâs words. Mumbling something about her brother being helpless. But you smile, a small laugh escaping your lips before motioning down to your already dressed body.
âYou know itâs supposedly bad luck for him to see me before the wedding right?â You ask Mack, but his eyes light up at the question.
âOh donât worry. Iâve got that figured out.â
âYou know your plans freak me out.â You tell Mack, picking up your dress to start to follow him to where Will is.
âWill said the same thing! God you guys are perfect for each other.â
â
Will couldnât stop touching his head. Honestly, he didnât know why it was that big of a deal. Itâs not like his hair looked bad, he just wanted it to look perfect. He wanted it to look perfect because he was marrying you. And you deserved nothing but perfect. You planned an entire wedding, you figured out everything until the very last detail, so Will would be damned if his hair wasnât going to work.
A knock sounds, before Mack pokes his head into the room.
âOkay, time to suit up.â Mack says, walking over to Will with a tie.
âIâm already dressed what are you talking about?â
âIâm talking about the fact your future wife is standing outside that door. And your hair can only be fixed by her, who by the way is way out of your league.â Will scowls at that, but had to fight off a smile at the same time. âAnd, you canât see her yet so I have graced us all with a solution.â Mack finishes, holding a tie up.
âA tie?â Will questions.
âA blindfold.â Mack says.
âYouâre joking.â
âNope. Now put this on so sheâs not standing alone in the hallway where anyone can spot her.â
Will scoffs, taking the tie and covering his eyes, making sure itâs tight enough that he doesnât have any peep holes.
âCan you see?â Mack asks, waving a hand in front of Willâs face.
âNothing.â Will confirms. He can hear Mackâs footsteps going towards the door, before he opens it and a clicking of heels echos in the room.
Willâs breath catches. He canât even see her, canât sense how far away she is, but he knows sheâs standing there, likely staring at him in his suit.
â
âMy god. I really have made a wonderful choice havenât I?â You question as you take him in. The black suit fitting his body perfectly.
âYeah, yeah. Flirt later, fix hair now.â Mack says, laughing as he leads you over to Will.
âI need help.â Will says to you, and when you finally make your way into his space his breath catches yet again.
âWilliam!â You exclaim. âCan you see me?â
âNo!â He fires out quickly.
âYou stopped breathing for a second.â You accuse.
âThatâs just because I know youâre there. Trust me love, I want nothing more than to rip this stupid fucking tie off and look at you. Just the thought of you standing there in your dress - fuck.â He says, and you both can hear Mack giggle slightly in the background.
âSit down baby, Iâll fix you up. Yeah?â
âPlease, love.â He says, sitting down with your guidance.
Youâre glad for a million reasons he canât see you. But youâre glad he canât see the blush that still coats your cheeks every time he calls you âloveâ which is his preferred nickname for you. Youâre glad he canât see how your hands shake slightly styling his hair, and not from wedding nerves, but from seeing him like this.
He looked like a god, and your gaze caught Mack in the mirror. His phone out and facing the both of you. But you didnât say anything, you only smiled and shook your head as you continued styling his hair.
He didnât talk the entire time, and neither did you. He let you work, savoring the feeling of you running your fingers through his curls, smelling the sweetness of the perfume youâre wearing.
âI canât wait to marry you.â He confesses, finally breaking the silence.
Your heart clenches, and you smile so big at his confession.
âGood thing weâve got less than an hour.â You say, finishing up the last touches to his hair.
âLess than an hour until youâre my wife.â He says, smiling, wishing more than anything he could see through this stupid blindfold.
âLess than an hour until I marry the love of my life.â You whisper into his ear, and you can see the hair standup on the back of his neck. âYouâre all fixed.â You say a little louder, catching Mackâs attention now too.
Will so gently pats around his hair, marveling at the feeling of how it always is.
âHow did you manage to fix it?â
âIâm about to be your wife, I figure Iâll be fixing and playing with your hair the rest of my life. It was about time to study how to get it like you always do.â
âYouâre unbelievable.â Will says, in awe.
âI just fixed it, I didnât build a coliseum or anything.â You say, planting a kiss to his cheek.
âLetâs get married right now. I canât wait-â
â47 minutes?â Mack answers.
You laugh at Will, before kissing his cheek once more.
âYou can wait 46 more minutes.â You say, taking a step back.
âNo, I really canât. Itâs killing me not being able to see you.â He says, standing up and keeping his blindfold in tack.
âYouâll see me at the end of the aisle, and the youâll see me everyday after.â
âThatâs not soon enough.â
âMy god you guys are such saps. Y/N, let me get you back before the women come murder me for having you away this long.â Mack says, and you nod.
âI will see you in 45 minutes.â You say, stepping further away from him.
âI love you.â He says, and even though you know he canât see you, he clocks where you are. Even without sight he can tell, thatâs how drawn he is to you.
âI love you too, husband.â
