FIRST: AU,fansession where there are “12”,(really 13) trolls based on Chinese horoscope

Oo, somehow we’ve never had anyone on this blog go through the Chinese zodiac? I think we might’ve had a few separate instances, but never a full roster, so this ought to be fun. I’m gonna try to tread lightly, but this seems like a good time.

Name:shū,i know trolls need 6 letters on each name, but im not sure for her,shū is the Chinese name of rat

Hmmm. I always feel weird picking on folk religion for names, but we use Greek/Roman deities just fine so I’ll tentatively recommend Huxian for the first name. This comes from Huīxiān, the Rat Immortal of Northeastern Chinese religion, which reflects on broader Chinese cosmology (which is why I thought to use it in the first place). 

As for her last name… How about Glaber, from Naked Mole Rat. They’re remarked for their longevity and survivability in harsh climates, and it fits well with the Rat Immortal name along with the fact that reds are notoriously hard to kill.

Rats are well known for their cunning, so I think you should give her a trap-based specibus. Maybe trapkind with her specifically using sticky traps? She throws them down and then leads people into the sticky trap, so they’re stuck in glue while she runs away! Hehe.

Maybe she has to have one of her pet rats run the maze instead of doing it herself! Just an idea.

It feels a little odd to me to use just the Chinese word for rat as her symbol? Straightup using language words for symbols isn’t something Homestuck really does. I’ll try to see if I can reasonably incorporate anything with red sign language! But I’ll probably be taking most of my symbol design inspiration from Tachigami, the Rat Constellation, from the game Okami.

What about rodentiaCutpurse? Rodentia still references rodents, but cutpurse references her thiefy habit. Hey, maybe her rats can help her steal.

I know this is probably referencing her symbol, but just in case we change that… Rats are known for their luck and such, so I think we should use her lucky numbers. She should change:  Z=2, E=3, D=6, B=8. But she should also Never use 4, 5, or 9 and reverse replace those, 4=A, 5=S, and 9=Q.  EX:  th3 quick 8rown fox jumps ov3r the la2y 6og, 2q tim32 to 83 3xact. 

Special Abilities:she is sneaky like a shadow,also she keeps live and dead rats

Oo, she could talk to the rat spirits and get them to spy for her, maybe.

Lusus: she is an rat keeper,so she may have a lot of lusii

I dunno, it seems like there’s animals outside of lusii on alternia? Like, we see Feferi keeping cuttlefish as pets! So she can probably have some pet rats but only one or two lusii… Though you saying that does make me like the idea of her lusus just being like, a Ratroyshka. Just a tiny rat piloting a bunch of other rats. Her lusus is very hard to kill because you kill it and another, slightly smaller lusus just Emerges.

Personality: she is playfull and loves to steal and sneak on weird places

Try to beef this up a little more. Is she an eavesdropper? I think she could also use a little bit of an interest in food because Rat Associations. Rats love, love, love to eat. Make sure she’s clever, too. Sneaky, good at coming up with plans, and REALLY good at escaping.

Honestly I thiiink she might have to be a life player. Rats are associated with offspring and descendants and that’s a major part of why they’re not only In the chinese zodiac, but also the FIRST one in the chinese zodiac. They’re the progenitor, the beginning. Rats are also associated with plentiful food, and abundant, indulgent food is a common life theme in homestuck. Rats are also associated with energy, adaptability, which are also common life themes in homestuck. 

I think I might place her as a Rogue of Life? She’s a passive allocator, someone who moves and obtains, redistributes sneakily and behind the scenes. Being a trainer kind of helps this, she moves and transfers around the developmental energy for the good of all her little rat friends. In the grander scheme of things, like in the game, it would allow her to transfer developmental energy and lifeforce between her teammates. She could take life energy from herself in order to heal her teammates, or she could take life energy from enemies for the same purpose. Or she could mass LARGE amounts of life energy onto herself in order to make herself very unkillable. Her inverse would be Knight of Doom, which would allow her to use structures and inevitability as a weapon against people when she took life out of the equation. 

Land:hmm

How about the Land of Generations and Ancients. The denizen is stealing the lifeforce from the consorts around him and so the consorts all age, live, and die very quickly. Huxian steps down on planet and within the first day watches an entire generation die. She has to figure out what the heck the denizen is doing and stop him, redistribute the lifespan to the consorts of the planet. And then she has to exploit the denizen’s new weakness and give him a good ol’ stab.

Dream Planet:derse

Since she doesn’t have any themes of dissatisfaction or hiding herself, I think she reads more as prospit! This would theoretically make her sign Arsci, the Medic, but I’m gonna be adapting several symbols together for her instead of just this one. 

Design: 

Horns: I didn’t want to get rid of the ribbons or the rat ear look despite changing her hair, so I made her horns rat-ear shaped and put ribbons around those. 

Hair: I wanted her hair a bit messy- hair that’s messed up is often called a rat’s nest! I also gave her a rat-tail braid. 

Face: Rats have those big shiny eyes, so I gave her huge pupils. Her smile can’t have sharp teeth, since rusts are shown having blunt or nubby teeth. 

Jacket/scarf/shirt: I edited these from Jade’s squiddle outfit and Eridan’s scarf respectively. The Rat Zodiac’s associated season is winter, so I thought it made sense for her to dress like it was winter- that’s probably something I’ll keep in mind with all of your trolls. For that reason, I also gave her a regular top instead of a tanktop. 

Pants/shoes: Her bottoms were edited from Terezi. The shoes are meant to have little buttons on them to continue the mildly wintery look! 

Symbol: I took the circle from Arsci/Tachigami. On top I added the wings from Tachigami’s eyeliner, and on bottom I added the drop lines from the symbol you originally gave her!

It’s not recommended for long periods of time since if you go for a long time without any sort of sex hormone in your body, it can start an early menopause-like phase.

AU Chinese Zodiac session

Name:Niu,chinese for buffalo

Traditionally this Chinese zodiac space is occupied by the Ox, but the Vietnamese version of the zodiac uses the water buffalo, so I’ll accept this change to the buffalo. We’ll need to pick a better name, though.

Bubali is a better pick for the first name, it’s a reference to Bubalus bubalis, the Asian Water Buffalo. Bellis for the last name, as a reference to Teressa Bellissimo, the inventor of buffalo wings.

You could use an oilkind instead and have him sort of fling the oil on people, portcullis style (even if that wasn’t actually all that common, it’s fitting for him!)

I want to trrry to give this character more depth. He’s pretty just One-Note Buffalo Wings when there’s a lot else you can do with such a character! The oxen zodiac is associated with hard work, Backbreaking work in fact. You could give him a Beast Of Burden modus where he has to drag something heavy a certain distance in order to unpack his item?

Blood color:bronze fried “wings”!!

I think a good and fun idea would be using a Sky Bison instead. It could still fly, but without Physical Wings.

I like the idea of him being charismatic. I think I want him to… maybe be someone who built a sort of business from the ground up. Buffalo, NY is known as a great ski resort. So he could be something a restaurateur and a resort-keeper, a humble little cabin aesthetic that he built and maintained and made famous himself with his Delicious Food and Hospitality. But he’s hardheaded and a sly-talker and he’s very friendly and warm seeming, but he also… has a bit of a temper and a bit of a hatred for the entitled highbloods who come to stay at his resort, and… sometimes they just…. kind of vanish. But it’s fine. He can blame the mountain. 

Interests:animals and “wings” fried with oil from plants

I think I’ll also add Skiing/snowboarding, Hospitality, Hotel Services, and Self-Sufficiency.

Title: ???? of hope

I think it might make most sense for him to be a blood player. The ox is tied to the land and is also associated with the earth side of the chinese zodiac. Blood players are natural leaders and have that sort of draw and charisma that this character displays. He just has to learn to like… actually value his bonds instead of exploiting them if he wants to become a more acceptable person. So I’ll say… Mage of Blood, maybe? The active understander of blood bonds, responsibility, etc.

Land:land of lack and soil,a land where everyone is poor and hungry,but the dirt is good for farms

I do kind of like this premise, but you can’t just say the consorts are starving while there’s good soil without explaining it. So here’s my idea… There used to be an underclass of farmers who were all wiped out, and now the rich elite are starving because those entitled brats don’t know the first thing about farming. In order to accomplish his quest, he’ll have to teach the bastard consorts how to farm like reasonable people. You could call it the Land of Fallow and Opulence.

Dream Planet:prospit

Design:

Horns/hair: I added more waterbuffalo-y horns just to give him more of that aesthetic. For the hair, I changed it to black but otherwise kept it the same. Brownbloods are too low to have access to hairdye the way mid/higher bloods do. 

Face/top: I gave him some teeth, because brownbloods are a pretty toothy bunch, but I kept them relatively subdued so he wouldn’t look intimidating. I gave him a winter jacket and a frying apron- the winter jacket because of the ski lodge backstory And the fact that the ox zodiac is associated with winter. 

Bottoms; I gave him big puffy pants meant to be remniscent of snowpants and some snow boots. 

Symbol: I added the integral brownblood circle, but kept the line coming down and the split lines coming off the side!

He is an little beetle who is “ugly”,he is also a guy who makes juice (its called beetle juice but is 100% bug free),also he got vision 0.4 fold,as a sign that he lost almost everything

Hmmm. Beetles on alternia are implied to be equated with money (”embezzling beetles”), so it’s definitely good he’s not making juice out of them. Why does he make juice, though? I don’t know how ell that goes with the rest of his character? Is it just because of the beetlejuice pun? You don’t really have to do that if it doesn’t fit his character… Though I guess recycling could encourage him to make juice out of other stuff? Maybe he could be the type he likes clean living in general up to and including doing those weird juicing diets? 

AU of la cucaracha and the Anvil boy,troll of Odel

Name:Kaburo Jeprio,Kaburo is from Kabuto that is beetle in japanese,also that it means headgear too,Jeprio is from jepri,an egypt beetle that reincarnates on the balls it makes,it resembles the way he uses “trash” to make art

Hooow about Vietei Buybak. 

Vietei is from a particular species of dung beetle, and Buybak is just… It’s a reference to Buy Back policies, where organizations will pay for containers being returned to be recycled.

Recycling is a big theme you have here, so him just grabbing a stick and whacking people with it is pretty funny… But I kind of like the idea of him just having like, Salvagekind. He just uses whatever things he’s recently rescued. It could be a piece of driftwood, or a wad of paper, or a pvc pipe, or… so on and so forth.

Fetch Modus:hmm

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle- Everything he puts in gets reduced to its base components. Which is convenient for combining them in new and unique ways, but really inconvenient if he wants to like… save something as it is.

Hhmmm… You could have him triple R’s, like tRRRash, as a reference to reduce/reuse, recycle. Of you could have him litter sentences with a bunch of punctuation to be a visual waste.

Hmmmm…. I still don’t know about the number. But I do think that… Okay, so part of how eyes work is that they recycle light-sensitive proteins. So his eye could fail to do that and he could thus have lost a large part of his light vision? It’s a good contrast to Odel’s light synthesia. 

Lusus: it is an living ball with horns

That is a pretty funny ideajhbjh. Maybe it could have beetle horns and a sort of shell? But instead of legs it just has an orb that it rolls on. Love it.

Personality: he is a guy who recycles stuff,he does art but he feels like there’s something missing in his hearth

Maybe none of his work ever satisfies him? Like he will do all this new work and this building of stuff, but he’s always chasing some greater potential? He can’t find a medium that satisfies him? He’s tried painting and sculpture and culinary stuff, but he’s still searching for the Perfect Canvas. The Perfect Medium. The Perfect Starting Point.

Design: 

Horns: I decided to keep the somewhat spikey horns, though I edited them to look a little bit more recognizably like beetle horns. 

Helmet: I decided to make it metallic colored and put it in two different colors, like he salvaged two pieces of metal and fused them together into this helmet. 

Shirt: Similar to the helmet, I decided to make it look like he combined two separate shirts. A cerulean and a black shirt, with one half holding his symbol. 

Shorts: Simple and a little bit frayed, I wanted them to look salvaged, too. Just a lot of recycled fabric going on here!

Shoes: I did keep the clean white shoes you added. 

On left side theres him before entering the medium,on right side theres him when he gets an new shirt and prototypes to make shoes with light laces,striped shorts,blue tooth headphones(badum psst)and an way more portable virtual boy glasses,i want the players to wear gray shirts on this universe,also i want my kids to look or have to do with alpha and beta kids,i wanted him to get same face,text and maybe hair as John and Jane,also the kids will get the remaining aspects:doom,blood,rage and mind,fun fact,jellyfish troll was an trollsona of him and this is a kid?sona of me,and same with all the other kids.

Martinez is too long (it’s 8 letters, where you need 6 or 7), so I’ll probably recommend Martine. For the first name… maybe Odel? As a reference to Odell Down Under, a 1995 video game about the ocean/being a fish. It seems like you enjoy the water and ocean creatures a lot, and you have a theme of underappreciated old games here, so I thought it’d be fitting!

How about Ordered Jelly-Fish modus instead. It’d act kind of like a tree modus with the Base item at the top, but there’s a relational structure going down. So like you said, for example, if he has a cat in his Main Slot, all branches from there have to be somehow related to cats. So he could have one tentacle that involves the number 9, one tentacle that involves Softness, one tentacle that involves meat, etc.

I don’t think you need the symbols, it clutters too much for a human character who has no real reason to utilize such a quirk.

I don’t… know what this means, the “fuaa” thing. The closest I can find is a meme? Like a psychic energy? But the guy claimed fortune-telling and the ability to raise the dead? And that it’s an internal willforce when you think you can’t do more… I’m guessing this AU world you’ve created is one where people have superpowers, so if you want this, I guess it would be more of a ‘last resort’ power than anything? Him summoning his will in order to effect change around him? 

Light synthesia works fine, though.

Did the fish raise him or does he have an actual parent?

Personality: shy but alternate to strong

This is a really vague personality! If you want him to be a doom player, you should focus on him being someone with a hard life. Someone who’s not so self-assured, but who is a good ear to listen to. Maybe someone who needs to learn to stand up for himself- the Potential to be strong. To justify the dersite assignment later, you need to make him someone who’s either really worried about the past or future and someone who isn’t satisfied with his current position in life.

Interests:Underrated/old videogames,keychains,ghosts and art

He should also be interested in the ocean and such.

Page of Doom is what I would recommend, because of the fuaa ability and the potential I mentioned. 

Land:hmm….

Land of Frills and Tendrils, maybe? Both references to jellyfish, really. A risky, dangerous land with creeping, dangerous tentacles hidden among the pretty frills.

Dream Planet:Derse

Since Derse was the recommendation in the Glauce review, I’ll agree to keep it here, too!

Design:

First off, not to be rude, but please No One ever submit a double sized sprite with such terrible color artifacting ever again or I will just not be touching it. Anyways here we go. 

Hair: It was just John’s with some missing parts, so I made it not that. I based it vaguely off of the protagonist of Secret of Evermore’s hair, since that’s an old underrated game. 

Glasses: I decided not to leave them just a black blob and instead I made them a pair of goggles. I specifically based them off of the Light Amplification Visor from Doom. I thought it made a lot of thematic sense with his light synthesia. 

Mouth: The big teeth just looked awkward. He’s not a troll, he’s a human. So I made them into smaller, more even-sized. 

Shirt: I didn’t want it to be too similar to John’s, so I moved the outline out a little to make it wider and then reduced the belt size somewhat. I also made it a flat color. Which was so hard. All those colors. All those disparate, artifacted colors… I’ve seen hell. 

Symbol: Like I said, I replaced the squid with the Yoshi’s Story jellyfish. I also changed the color to sea green! 

Shorts: I didn’t want to rip right off the John shorts, so I sprited some new ones that are a bit shorter.  

Shoes: I had to edit the shoes a little to make up for the gap between them and the shorts. I also decided to make them darker just to fit the general grey you’d been going with on his clothes.

Chinese Zodiac Fansession

Oh geez, I thought you accidentally submitted early so I sat on this one for a hot minute, but I’ll just work with what I’ve got!

Name:Oolong Kagshi:Oolong is mix of Oo+ki for big,long is Chinese for dragon,kagshi is a comprimed version of ka guchi,fire mouth

How about Dilong for the first name instead? It fits the 6 letter name scheme and means Earth Dragon (the Dragon zodiac’s fixed element is earth). 

As for the surname- dragons in Chinese mythology actually aren’t traditionally associated with fire, at least not as much as in the west. Chinese dragons are more commonly associated with water and weather! Maybe we could use Aragon for the surname instead? As a reference to Aragonite, the primary component making up pearls. Chinese dragons are often depicted with pearls! It has the added benefit of sounding close to Eragon, that Dragon Book/Movie.

Dilong Aragon

Like I said, fire isn’t really the primary association with dragons in Chinese mythology. They’re usually known as dispensers of rain who bring bad weather when a mortal incites their wrath. …So I think you should have Dilong use a supersoaker. 

Fetch Modus:hmm

How about like, a… Contact juggling modus? One place where fire Does show up in Chinese dragon mythology is with the flaming pearl. So Dilong could have a flaming pearl-like fushigi ball that she has to roll around on her arms in various tricks without getting burnt in order to release the item she wants!

Since you haven’t written a personality segment, I don’t have… tons to work with. But maybe ascendantLuckeater? The lifting and flying of dragons is a big part of their importance in any mythology, but their Ascension is really important in Chinese mythology in particular. And dragons are known as  lucky symbols, but will also eat your luck if you disrespect them. 

Quirk:EVERYTHING I~ IMPORANT, AL~O ADD~ ~OME DRAGON TAIL~,END~ WITH A HEAD ~PITING FIRE (O

I think that the little circle at the end can be reinterpreted easily as the aforementioned pearl, so I think this quirk checks out!

Now… this is where your original submission left off. I’m not in the business of constructing characters from whole cloth for free, so I won’t be doing a Detailed Profile for you, but I’ll do some general fill in the blank work with what you missed.

Special Abilities (if any): Nothing concrete, but since olives are notoriously lucky, maybe she gets lucky with how her friends or enemies experience luck? Someone pisses her off and then trips down the stairs. Yay, oliveblood luck.

Lusus: Dragons are pretty rare on Alternia and I doubt they go below teal, so maybe not a dragon lusus, but… Maybe a tortoise with stag antlers? The dragon is said to have the Viscera of a tortoise, so I think that’s fair.

Personality: Dragons are known to be wise, and good leaders. They’re helpful, and they’re strong, firm. They’re a force to be reckoned with. So that’s the structure you can build off her. Make her someone who’s intelligent and knowing, who is great to follow behind, who can maybe be a little capricious and definitely a little mysterious. 

Interests: You could probably make her a meteorologist because of the weather association with dragons. Ooh, or you could make her a rainmaker! One of those travelling salespeople who claims they’re capable of Making Rain Happen. 

Title: So what we’ve got left are-

titles: thief, seer, witch, heir, prince, bard, maid, sylph

aspects: breath, light, void, rage, time, space, heart, mind

So if we consider that, Maid of Breath, maybe for this girl! She’s the active creator of the winds. She makes direction and very actively leads while everyone follows. She Is the wind and the sky and the weather. Fun times. 

Land: Land of Empires and Turbines 

Dream Planet: Because of your yin/yang classification, dragons are yang, so she’d be a dersite. So you have to remember to give her some kind of dissatisfaction, something she’s railing against, some way she’s disguising herself, etc. 

Design:

Horns: I wanted to make them like the antlers often seen on Chinese dragons!

Hair: I kept it much the same, though I added some flips remniscent of the dragon’s mane. 

Eyes: I didn’t see a reason for the blank eyes. Dragons are described as having demon’s eyes, so I vaguely based the shape of the eyes off of Chinese demon masks. 

Mouth: Chinese dragons are often drawn with :3 mouths and tiger teeth, so that’s what I gave her! 

Outfit: I edited all the clothes from fan-troll’s sprite bases. It’s based on an outfit from an episode of the show Quantum Leap in which the main character has to pretend to be a Rainmaker. 

Symbol: I edited it from Leun, since I made her a breath player. But I added a swishy tail and some antlers to this symbol as well!

I’m not sure where Weixin comes from? But I’m assuming Tsooki comes from Tsuki, or moon, as a reference to the rabbit in the moon. I like that a lot! But I think I want to change Weixin to Himmie, as a reference to Himmie the Himalayan rabbit, a famous 2016 Rabbit Hopping Champion.

I like that a lot… Someone who’s lookin to the stars! Actually, that gives me an idea here. What if Himmie is a literal rabbit on the moon? Limebloods have a hard time surviving on Alternia, so if the game sent him to land and live on the moon instead of living on the earth’s surface, he could survive easily! …Even if he’d be lonely and have to play astronaut pretty often to go outside. 

Fetch Modus:

Multiply Modus- He puts items in, but the items pretty quickly start multiplying like rabbits. If he’s not careful, he might accidentally end up with a captchadeck full of like 30 cups.

I can’t quite tell what this is supposed to mean… There’s no twin theme here, so bringing up twins isn’t really necessary. Maybe nibblingRover? Nibbling means taking small bites as well as showing cautious interest, which I think will fit a rabbit-themed character well, and rover implies that he’s bound wandering to the moon’s surface, much like China’s Yutu, which was named for the rabbit in the moon.

It’s implied they have pacification abilities. So maybe your boy’s very good at encouraging harmony.

Lots of fun room to play with a moon boy. The idea of a grub landing on the moon and a robot bunny or even an evil space bunny rescuing him and raising him is a neat concept!

Personality and story:he is an little smol bun *UwU* ,he wants to discover how are the moons and the outer space

I do like this, but I wanna add the idea of him being witty and good at survival. That’s part of what rabbits are known for in the zodiac. They’re vigilant and good at survival- but also well-known for their Self-Sacrificing tendencies. Maybe he could be an anxious and fearful kind of boy who wants to learn to be braver and wants to explore more. Someone who’s good at thinking on his feet and Very naturally creative. 

Interests: bunnies,either rice made bread or cheese,(on japan,the moon is made of rice bread)

Maybe he could have some minor astrophysics interests too. Just trying to study to figure out a way off this dang moon. He could scavenge from scrap satellites and other stuff he finds abandoned on the moon’s surface! 

Title: seer of space,he wants to see and discover everything

Rabbits are largely associated with self-sacrifice. Part of the myth of the Rabbit in the Moon is that when a group of animals came upon a starving man, the rabbit did not know how to grab anything but grass, and so he offered up his own flesh to save the man, and was thus immortalized in the moon for his kindness. So I think this boy should be a Page of Doom! 

He can still have that natural curiosity. He’s just kind of been beaten up on all his life. He’s surrounded and overwhelmed by the doominess of being trapped on a moon, and the doominess of being a lime in the current hemospectrum, and it’s all REALLY SCARY… and he just needs to learn to embrace and exploit that scariness. Use the system against itself. Also his inverse would be Thief of Life, so he can do some life allocation and then exploit the inevitability left behind and that’s just a really fun idea.

Land of Burrows and Undead? A planet where consorts are the prey to tons of zombies walking the land, and he has to learn to take control of the zombies Somehow in order to free his consort pals and fight the denizen?

Aw you should’ve told me that earlier! I think it’s a neat idea- you just have to remember that just Saying someone’s prospit or derse doesn’t Make them prospit or derse, you have to remember to suit their personality to the role. Since Himmie is a prospit player, you’re going to want him to be someone who tends to roll with the punches instead of struggling against Literally everything. You want him to be clever and creative on the spot, not the kind who tends to sit down and write things down at length before making a decision. 

Design:

Astrobunny!! 

Helmet: I wanted to give him a nice astronaut’s helmet, which looks like a bunny head because it’s designed to accommodate his horns. The glass also has a pink cast. Usually we don’t bring in colors like pink before Jade, but if he’s living on the planet I think he can get away with it (and the pink/green contrast is a good reference to Alternia’s moons anyways). 

Suit: It’s just meant to be a good, clunky astronaut suit in a darker lime color. His spaceboots also get to be in pink. 

Symbol: It’s based on Camino, but with a touch of the original symbol you used in your drawing in the additional flippy bits.
