Just finished reshelling and replacing the buttons on a GameCube controller I picked up at a flea market.
Shell is Iridescent Pewter White by Control In Color Buttons are Cool Opal resin cast by Lab Fifteen
L/R triggers, membranes, and sticks are all still OEM, so it has a really nice feel to press the buttons and move the sticks, and I didn't feel like it needed a snap-back mod. My only complaint is that the texture on the sticks is more plastic than the OEM soft rubber pads, but that's the price one must pay for pretty resin-cast iridescent sticks.
I might revisit this one and replace the cable also, because there are some cool paracord cables out there that might go better than the standard black (plus this was originally an indigo controller so the plug is still indigo lol)
Hi guys! I don't always post repaired or reshelled game boys, but this GBA SP 101 had something interesting to say about his refurbishing. As you can see from the last photos the LCD was kinda washed out, with a lot of interference on it so I had to inspect it more carefully and found that C85 was the guilty! It exploded inside the old shell, taking away also the pad connected to the transistor nearby and I had to be creative for fixing it, a leg of an electrolytic capacitor for more stability, a new 0.1 uF ceramic 0603 one in place at voilà, good as new!! The spongebob shell is an add on, very sturdy one, seems like an original! So, if you encounter a poor AGS 101 washed out LCD with a lot of noises you can surely check the caps near the on/off slider, they can break easily if the unit is dropped! Hope you Guys are all ok, a great Hug from this Maremmian Boar RGmods!! #RGmods #Repair #101 #reshell #spongebob #gbasp #retrogames #games #pokemon #supermario #Italy #Maremma (presso azraele100877) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJn90sNjnnA/?igshid=9tmwna0qh2v9

So first attempt at a project, so thought I share my re-shelling project with you guys, hope you enjoy seeing this project through as I will enjoy making it for you guys!
So here is the gameboy color console i will be taking apart for this re-shelling, as you can see it is pretty much standard used condition but I will be adding a pokemon theme to this beauty! (Pictures you should be able to see at the moment awaiting on them to arrive but once they are here its all systems go!!)
I got my shell from ebay, which is the transparent Pokemon Pikachu one, the screen that comes with it, I wont be using as i have ordered a separate one which includes Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and Pikachu, the first generation starters! Finally the buttons which will all be white! Hopefully these will look pretty good once put together onto the Gameboy color!
For this project, it wasn’t too much of a cost: The Gameboy color was £13.50 including postage, the mods all came to about £15.00 - £17.00 which isnt bad overall!
Lets hope all goes well with this project and I hope you all enjoy it!!
Back to Dolly Updates!
Soooo... I'm thinking of reshelling Aeron...
Big news, huh? xD I am still in love with his sculpt, but it's still the proportion issues... How am I gonna get an 8-9" head to look around the same age as a 7-8" head? It's this question that has started to make me think about getting a new Souldoll Vito boy as Aeron instead while redeveloping my '08 Man into someone new. (And I think I know how he'd look too...)
So what do you guys think? Think it's a good idea?
