IN  ANOTHER  SITUATION——jude  might  have  acted  coy  in  the  face  of  cardan’s  question,   a  tilt  of  her  head,   innocent  confusion  meeting  his  questioning  eyes.   but  she  has  no  reason  to  play  nice  with  him  these  days,  despite  his  title,   it  is  jude  who  wields  the  power.

It had been three years since Clary had died. Eighteen months since Jace had gone off and tried to get himself killed being reckless. Sixteen months since he had let Simon and Izzy drag him out into the world without protest. A year since Jace had stayed in his room all day refusing to speak to anyone but his siblings and the daylighter. It had been six months since Jace realized he was falling in love with Simon, three months since Alec had sat him down and made him admit it out loud, and, as of the morning, it had been two and a half weeks that Jace had been struggling with telling Simon how he felt. So he was in the training room, going almost nonstop in a workout as he tried to figure out a way to say it.

the look he levelled simon was enough to tell him that he wasn't in a joking mood. valentine had been his father, the man who raised him and in the end he'd been the one who put all the things currently running through is head there and the last thing he wanted was to joke about it. not when he was starting to blame himself for the things that had been going wrong. but getting it off his chest was a start and jace knew that if anyone could help him figure things out simon could. or at least give him something new to focus on. "the only solution is to kill valentine but that's not possible since we don't even know where he is. but maybe a trip to the hunter's moon is in order."
