Ingredients: 300g pasta penne or fusilli. 250g Italian sausage, removed from casing. 2 red bell peppers, sliced. 1 onion, chopped. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 1 can 400g crushed tomatoes. 1 teaspoon dried oregano. 1 teaspoon dried basil. Salt and pepper to taste. Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving. Fresh basil leaves, for garnish.
Instructions: Follow the directions on the package to cook the pasta until it is al dente. Remove the water and set it aside. Over medium-low heat, use a spoon to break up the Italian sausage in a large skillet. Cook until it is browned and fully cooked. Take the sausage out of the pan and set it aside. If you need to, add a little olive oil to the same skillet. Then, add the chopped onion and sliced red bell pepper. About 5 minutes of cooking will soften the food. Add the minced garlic to the pan and cook for one more minute, until the garlic smells good. Add the dried oregano, basil, and crushed tomatoes and mix them in. Add pepper and salt to taste. Let it cook for 10 minutes. Put the cooked sausage back in the pan and mix it well with the sauce. Toss the cooked pasta in the pan with the sauce until it's all covered. Add grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves on top while the food is still hot.
