Re-Coloring Tutorial (No Photoshop)
Easy re-coloring tutorial! (For those who don’t have Photoshop).
*02/08/2020: Unfortuntely, PicMonkey now charges for a lot of the basic things that were free when I made this. Sorry!*
For this, you will only need this site right here. (It’s completely free to anyone!)
First, find a picture you’d like to re-color, be it eyes, hair, or lips!
Once you’ve found your picture, open it up with PicMonkey. Your tools will be on the left.
Find the blank female in the tools. She should be the third one from the top and it should say ‘Touch Up’ when hovering over it. Click on that.
We will be editing the hair first!
Scroll down the Touch Up section until you find the option that says Eye Shadow. You’ll need to find the darkest or lightest color and put it at 0% fade.
*Lightest color if chosen person’s hair is dark. Lightest for darker hair. Or as long as you can tell which is being edited.
Trace over the outline of your person’s hair first. This makes it easier for me, so you don’t have to.
Note: It doesn’t have to be perfect as you will be going back to it and erasing any mistakes later.
Once you’ve traced the outline, color inside of the lines you’ve made. There is a zoom button for a reason! Use it!
Once you’re done coloring, go back (use zoom!) and carefully go around erasing any marks you don’t want. Fix the outline, line if you colored parts of the background!
Now that you’re done, find the color out of the options that you’d like to change your person’s hair too! (Play around with the Fade option!)
Once you’re satisfied, click apply!
If the color doesn’t match, the eyebrows much, you can go back, find the color you used and color over the eyebrows, but use a bit more fade so it’s just a light tint of color. This isn’t needed for most hair coloring, but mine looked off without similarly colored brows.
Note: If you’d like silver hair, click on the third little box next to the pink (From the three options!). Then click the second little option out of the five and play with the fade!
I chose a lightish purple for Lucy Hale and this was my outcome before I went back to do her brows.
Next up is the lips!
You can skip this if you’re not coloring lips!
Scroll up from the Eye Shadow section and find the Lip Tint option!
Once you click on it, change the ‘Tone’ option to -100. (This is so you can see what you’re doing once you start coloring!)
Zoom into your picture so the lips look big (they’ll be a bit blurry) and centered! (This is so you won’t go over the lip’s lines!)
Use the brush (you may need to make it smaller before using) and trace over you person’s lips.
After you’re done, play with the colors and tone/intensity until you find the color you like best for your edit and click Apply.
This is the color I liked best for my edit.
Eye color is next!
Important, using Eye Tint leaves you with non-realistic eyes! For this, I used something different!
Click on Lip Tint again and zoom into your picture so the eyes are both in the frame.
Color them any color you’d like! Feel free to play with the tone and intensity.
Once you have your desired color, go back and erase the color from the pupil and any bright/white spots from flash/light. (This makes it more realistic looking).
After you’re done, click Apply.
Note: For darker eyes, make the Tone -100 to -60 for best color and Intensity 100. if you make Tone -50 to -20, also lower the Intensity until you find the best color
.For mine, I made her eyes a light brown!
Last note, once you are done editing, go back and sharpen your image for best results!
Please Like/Comment if this was helpful to you!
