Bulbasaur, use razor leaf!
It was super effective‽؟
#1: Bulbasaur (Vine Whip) - 1/4, like taking a bite out of a pineapple, a slight sting that lingers for just a moment.
#2: Ivysaur (Razor Leaf) - 2/4, a million papercuts. the pain is slight but all over.
#3: Venusaur (Petal Blizzard) - 3/4 - being cut a million times with a butter knife and then pouring vinegar over the wounds. A throbbing stinging pain all over. 4/4 if you have pollen allergies, the million cuts have vinegar poured over them and then turn into hives.
Fun Icelandic Pokémon facts with Butterfree
In the Icelandic dub of the Pokémon anime, Pokémon names were retained in English, but attack names were translated. The attack Razor Leaf was translated as “rakvélarblöð”, which is literally just the word “razorblades”. However, the word “blað” (same root as blade) means a sharp edge but also a piece of paper or... a leaf. This attack just so happened to turn into a pun in Icelandic - albeit a slightly weird-sounding one, seeing as the word rakvél is literally “shaving machine” and we don’t ever use this word other than to talk about literal razors that you shave with (and not even straight razors, which would be “rakhnífur” or “shaving knife”).
The Icelandic dub never made it to the Orange Islands, much less Hoenn, but if it had, I could only imagine that it would have translated Leaf Blade as “laufblað”, which just plain means “a leaf” and would have been hilarious.
