"you may be right that kraglin is not worthy, but he is the one yondu loved"
so uh.... i've been wanting to draw them since 2020. that is, i basically spent 4 years just daydreaming about it and haven't managed to even make a stupid small sketch for some reason 💀
but now i can do it, and this is somewhat of a love letter for my very first strong hyperfixation, and i still love them like i used to. 14-year-old me would be so very proud of me

I was thinking about Flux recently and that series’ main villains, the creatures and worshippers of Time known as the Ravagers.
These ancient beings were imprisoned by the Time Lords in the distant past after they attempted to release the force of Time, whom they worshipped, from its prison in the Temple of Atropos. The Ravagers were then released at the start of Flux’s events, and they waged a campaign to release Time once more and destroy all of spatial creation.
But it’s their crystalline forms that intrigued me while revisiting this series. And also their use of the forbidden dimensional technology known as the Passenger Forms, humanoid constructs that contained folded dimensions capable of holding millions of living beings.
Time-worshipping, crystalline beings with dimensional engineering tech who were defeated and imprisoned by Gallifreyans at the end of the Dark Times. Could the newly minted Time Lords have stolen something from the Ravagers as they stole regeneration from the Timeless Child?
Flux never touches on this as far as I can remember. And at first I wondered if Tardises may have been reverse-engineered from the Ravagers themselves. But I think a fair middleground for some headcanon is that they had other Time Forms besides the Passenger Forms, which the Gallifreyans then either stole or reverse-engineered to create their own time ships.
i've collected a summary of almost all the info i could find on every named Ravager in the Yondu Clan, including planets/systems of origin, role in volumes one and two, comics counterparts where applicable, and more (i'm limiting content on kraglin, pete, and yondu, because that would be Too Much). this for my reference so i don't have to pour through a hundred-seventy pages of fandom-wikis every time i want to refer to some ravagers in my writing, especially as i get into certain chapters of cicatrix. (but if it's helpful for you & your writing too, that will make me happy as well!)
also feel free to lmk if i got something wrong or if you know something i don't know!
organized in alphabetical order by first name
purple - mutineer.
blue - loyalist.
plain - other / it's complicated.
Brahl. mutineer; one of two primary executioners of Yondu Clan loyalists. executed by yondu via yaka arrow. archernonian (from planet archernon in the alpha unakalhai system).
comics counterpart: member of the minions of menace, enemy of the guardians. can turn intangible at will and uses an energy blaster. archernonian from planet archernon in the alpha unakalhai system.
Gef. mutineer; first mate to Captain Taserface. enemy/abuser of baby groot. no race/species listed.
no known comics counterpart.
Halfnut. mutineer; one of two primary executioners of Yondu Clan. executed oblo. ate a spider and was tranqued by rocket on berhert. executed by yondua via yaka arrow. no race/species listed.
no known comics counterpart.
Huhtar. mutineer. executed by yondu via yaka arrow. hurctarian (from planet arago-7 in the arago system).
no known comics counterpart.
Kraglin Obfonteri. accidental mutineer turned loyalist. kraglin's open criticism of yondu (which was really more of a plea for recognition as a loyal and devoted crewmember) was the turning point/trigger for mutiny. first mate of yondu udonta (see notes). eventual guardian of the galaxy. other than peter (who effectively resigned/left clan yondu prior to the mutiny), kraglin remains the last surviving member of this ravager clan. xandaran/xandarian (from planet xandar in the tranta system). listed as cyborg... possibly because of the fin?
comics counterpart: enemy of ant-man and the wasp. a-chiltarian (from a-chiltar iii in the a-chiltar system).
additional notes: i headcanon kraglin as a big-brother to peter (per the holiday special) and a son to yondu. i don't think yondu loved him any less than he loved peter, but i think kraglin was hurt by the fact that (1) he had been loyal, (2) pete didn't even seem to think of Kraglin or Yondu as family at all, and yet (3) yondu seemed to show such a willingness to forgive pete (ie, the faithful son vs the prodigal son). i also headcanon kraglin as becoming first mate after returning to yondu's service, post tullk's execution. i imagine krags continued to assist nebula and rocket through the snap, mainly by manning the quadrant. he probably spent a lot of time on knowhere during this period (especially if rocket and nebs had already purchased the skull during this time). sometimes i headcanon kraglin as xandaran and sometimes as a-chiltarian. (in comics-canon, a-chiltarians look kind of like humanoid flies but i don't think their race has been depicted in the mcu yet, and we know that physical interpetations vary widely across mediums; for example, xeronians in the mcu versus the comics look very different.)
Narblik. mutineer. mocks the ejected loyalists from the airlock. executed by yondu via yaka arrow. no race/species listed.
no known comics counterpart.
Oblo. loyalist, murdered by mutineers. begged yondu to help him; executed by halfknut via ejection/"being spaced". krylorian (from planet krylor in the aceta system).
no known comics counterpart.
Peter Quill. retired/left the clan. adopted son of yondu, went rogue and eventually became the current/former captain of the guardians of the galaxy. half-terran, half-celestial (bio-father/clestial planet: ego).
comics counterpart: there's too much to write here. half-terran, half-spartoi or -spartaxian (father: emperor j'son of spartax) from planet spartax in the spartax system. which is, ironically, some real egocentrism.
Retch. mutineer. enemy/abuser of baby groot; executed by baby groot, who threw him off the catwalk. no race/species listed.
no known comics counterpart.
Scrote. mutineer. executed by yondu via yaka arrow. no race/species listed - does NOT appear xandaran.
no known comics counterpart.
Shran. mutineer. executed by yondu via yaka arrow. hurctarian (from planet arago-7 in the arago system).
no known comics counterpart.
Taserface/Tazrface. lead mutineer and captain of Clan Taserface. executed by yondu via explosion. no race/species listed - does NOT appear xandaran (refer to comics counterpart).
comics counterpart: a scout from his home planet who encounters/conflicts with the guardians. from planet stark, system unlisted.
notes: i haven't read the comics featuring taserface or planet stark but from what i can tell, it's a planet in the future (?) named after tony stark (i think?) who they consider a "techno-god" or something?? for my purposes, i'm choosing to interpret taserface as still hailing from planet stark (no relation to the terran family). i use the terms starkish and starkishmen (similar to knowhere's use of "knowheremen") to reference accordingly.
Tullk Ul-Zyn. loyalist and "veteran member" of Clan Yondu. defended yondu to both taserface and kraglin. beaten and executed by halfnut via ejection/"being spaced." no race/species listed (refer to comics counterpart and notes).
comics counterpart: bounty-hunter/merceary who worked for ronan the accuser. no race/species listed but looks significantly different than most human characters.
additional notes: i headcanon tullk as yondu's original first mate (pre-execution) and as having been one of yondu's mentors back when they were both members of the Stakar Clan. though comics and mcu incarnations look very different, i am currently headcanoning him as xandaran in accordance with his mcu appearance.
Vorker. mutineer with cybernetic eye. copiloted M-ship with kraglin during battle on xandar. rocket asked for his eye prior to the battle on xandar; groot later stole the eye when trying to procure yondu's fin. executed by in eclector massacre (unknown if he was killed by yaka arrow, katie & vicki, or the subsequent explosion). no race/species listed.
no known comics counterpart.
Yondu Udonta. captain of the Yondu Clan. originally sold by his family into servitude as a kree battle-slave. remained enslaved for twenty years before being freed and welcomed to the Stakar Clan. it's unclear if the yondu clan formed before or after yondu was exiled by stakar ogord for his role in trafficking children to their "father," ego. we can assume yondu and his clan were exiled for at least 26 years (from 1988 to 2014), which was likely longer than he was a member of the stakar clan itself. after cutting ties with ego and adopting peter, yondu began slowly developing a reputation for becoming "soft" over the years with certain ravagers. a portion of his crew eventually mutinied, and almost all of those loyal to yondu were executed with the exception of kraglin. after taking back control of a portion of his ship with the help of kraglin, rocket, and baby groot, and destroying the rest of the eclector and executing the mutineers, yondu eventually ended up sacrificing his life just off ego to give peter his spacesuit. rocket then sent word to the other ravager clans, who arrived in time to celebrate yondu's legacy with a ravager funeral under the "colors of ogord." centaurian (from planet centauri iv in the alpha centauri system, which is home to two suns and two additional races).
comics counterpart: there have been a few incarnations of yondu depending on which arc we look at. my understanding is the mcu yondu is meant to be an ancestor of the og comics-yondu. however, there have been a few arcs exploring alternative histories for our yondu, too. in all of them he's a centaurian. the fin is a natural body-part called a crest (at least one yondu kept his crest cut short via self-mutilation as a rejection of his home-planet and culture, which exiled him). anything else i would write here starts to get more into headcanons about centaurian culture versus anything else, and i'm saving all that for love is blind: andromeda lol.
aka, 'in which I have way too much fun writing young!Peter. as usual.'
“I’ll be bigger than you one day,” Peter fumes, as Kraglin tunes back into his tirade. His tinny voice in the earpiece is broken by the hollow thunk of his elbows and knees as he crawls along the duct; the fast-paced pant of his breath. “Then you’ll be the one getting stuck in the vents. And I won’t have no sympathy. None!”
“Yeah, yeah, kid. Just get back here. You at least bag the goods?”
Peter makes all sorts of offended noises. “Obviously. I’m Star-Lord!”
“No one calls you that.”
“Because none of you have any sense of joy or whimsy, Kraglin – “
Rating: T
Characters: Kraglin, Peter, Yondu (approx 20-30 years pre-gotg 1)
Relationships: Kraglin & Peter, Yondu & Peter, mild unspoken Kraglin/Yondu in the background
Warnings: violence, canon-typical child abuse

Tullk never had his own kids, but he’s really good with them. When Yondu was brought onto Stakar’s team (Yondu was 20 something but still traumatized so needed more patience anyways) Tullk was the one in charge of making sure he didn’t die. It’s why he stayed with Yondu after he got his own clan, to protect him and look after him. Because Yondu knows Tullk is good at comforting new recruits who more skittish or emotional he’s the one in charge of comforting them. Obviously this isn’t directly said, it’s more Yondu will mention how the new recruits need to “toughen up” while around Tullk, and then Tullk hunts them down and comforts them after “accidentally” finding them. He was pretty close to a dad for Peter and a lot of other recruits on the younger side
