I get that, because you want to defend yourself and say "no hey, this thing you think is going on really isn't. It will all come out in future chapters" But you should just be the mermaid. And it will undoubtedly piss them off, because they clearly don't realize that bottoming or topping has zero to do with how strong, capable, masculine, or intelligent a character is. So yeah, writing Magnus preferring one sexual position to another is probably going to make them irate.

I can’t be 100% certain the top/bottom anon is the same as the “there’s not enough Magnus involvement in the plot” anon, but considering I got the top/bottoming anon last week literally a couple minutes after the “not enough magnus” anon, I think it’s a fair assumption.

And I’m going to assume both those anons are the same “guest” over on AO3 who left the comment accusing me of just using Magnus as a plot device because the part of the plot that he’s heavily involved in hasn’t launched yet (winding up toward that literally starts in the next chapter.)

So I know where this is going. This is some concern trolling discourser who is going to try to accuse me of X, Y, and Z by not heavily featuring Magnus in the plot (because somehow they know what I have planned in future chapters despite what I’ve claimed is coming later in the story) and then claiming the fact that he hasn’t topped is evidence that I’m somehow biased against Magnus, feel Magnus is weak or irrelevant or unimportant.

Where it falls apart for our reading-comprehension-challenged anon is that 

1) Magnus has topped (in the very first chapter of the story.) In fact, in the previous story, it’s clearly conveyed that even when he wasn’t topping, he was still pretty much running the show.

2) I posted chapter 4 today. I’ve written up through Chapter 14 already. Magnus’s individual plot arc has been on a slow reveal starting in Chapter 5 and finally fully launches in Chapter 13.

While all that is gradually ramping up, the Alec-centric portion of the plot heavily deals with:

a) issues pertaining to his running the Institute and Izzy’s situation, including the introduction, vetting, and increasing involvement of Sebastian. That’s a story in which Magnus simply doesn’t--and really can’t--play a large or active role

b) the political maneuvering that needs to happen between Alec specifically and the Downworld representatives who aren’t Magnus (namely Raphael, Luke, and Catarina) Because the relationships he has to build with members of the Downworld extend beyond Magnus and need to be built between Alec and those people, not between Malec as a unit and those people.

c) Alec’s increasing frustration and friction with the Clave. Because if Alec is going to carry through on the promises he’s made in the course of pursuing this treaty, he needs to hit a point of being truly ready and willing to prioritize his negotiations and diplomatic relations with the Downworld over the Clave, and he needs to make that decision for himself, because it’s the right thing to do, not just because of his relationship with Magnus.

d) there’s also a bit of a mystery being seeded in here along the way that isn’t really solved until Chapter 12. And another that is still ongoing and will require both of them to solve later in the story. 

Anyway, this is just a long-winded way of saying the anon can blow me. There’s definitely Magnus-centric plot coming, but it happens after I spend some time constructing Alec’s character arc.

i was talking with my dad, and he brought up never wanting to see mr iguana in a spot like a royal rumble spot. and his reasoning was because he "discredited the chokeslam" from damian priest. which i genuinely thought was so bizarre, because, i don't see it that way at all.

damian is such an established character, big scary punishing and fatal, mr iguana is an established character, silly funny smug but can be frightened, and...... it makes me sad that people's immersion is so quickly killed because "he froze like an iguana, now you spend the match wondering how anybody suffers to that move, when that guy just freezes and fake-twitches".

it's just like, the move is established, the guy is established, if mr iguana did it to a NEW guy TRYING to be established, id get the argument much more, but that's not what's happening.

idk. then again he says he doesnt like most indie wrestling and cant "handle" (his words, not mine) a lot of "luchador flippy floppy stuff" and grew up with the 90s and 00s wrestling style. it just. disappoints me. because people act like YOU'RE the fake wrestling fan, YOU'RE the one that doesn't get the sport, and YOU'RE the one that's wrong and not immersed enough to get why this sucks. when in reality, my immersion doesn't break from a gag. my immersion doesn't break even if a move does get maliciously no-sold (like gunther's chop to goldberg). because i believe in the characters and the story being told. and because i can have a little humour too.
