ah, but here’s the snow. we’ve been waiting for you, snow, cold as ice but always melting, the summer snow in a glass of orange juice like the rising sun, and it wants you to take just one sip, stinging your throat like shattered glass, sparks of embers prodded one too many times, setting a fire at the edge of your glass, but don’t fall— you might drop it, and everyone knows the fire always starts at the edge of the world.

so don’t fall, glass of fire and yet also of snow, for all of us will fall with you.

So there has been a lot of A/B/O crap on my dash since yesterday, and it's actually led me to thinking about it more than I should in regards to Max, and my own views on it. Here is what I came up with. If your don’t want to hear about any of that, stop reading here. Thanks!

In my A/B/O verse, everyone has two 'genders'. The first, or the primary, is whether or not a person is male or female, and this is determined at birth like usual. The secondary gender is which of the three classes they fall into, and it is not discovered until they hit puberty. It is discovered through a change in pheromones, and each case will be handled accordingly.

Beta's don't have much to worry about, as they are the most stable of the three. Alpha's will have to be taught how to keep their slightly more aggressive urges in check, to avoid picking fights with other Alpha's, and to treat Omega's like people, and not sexual objects. Omega's will be taught about what it means to go into heat, how often it happens, and the means of dealing with it. They will be given the option of taking suppressants and scent dampeners in order to avoid any potentially embarrassing or dangerous situation.

Now, the matter of pregnancy. Any of the three groups can become pregnant, it's simply more common for an Alpha and an Omega to bond, as an Omega's body is built to handle an Alpha's knot. Beta's can handle it with a lot of preparation, but it is not as comfortable or as easy. However, male Omega's cannot get pregnant.(This is a personal preference, as I have never been all that comfortable with the whole...male pregnancy thing). All Omega's go into heat twice a year, for the length of up to one week, unless they take suppressants. Suppressants keep and Omega from going into heat at all, until they stop taking them, so it is recommended they be in a safe, comfortable environment should they decide to do so.

Also, one other important thing, there are female Alpha's. 

Last, but certainly not least, an Alpha who shares a blood relation to an Omega will not be attracted to them. Even if they come across them in heat, their only instinct will be to get them somewhere safe. Likewise, the Omega will not be attracted to their Alpha family member, not even during their heat.

Now, how does all of this affect Max? Simple, were I to write him into such a verse, Max would be an Omega. He got the talks and all of that when he was twelve, because that's when he started showing signs of his secondary gender. He opted not to take suppressants because they can have adverse affects if used for too long. As a result of this, he is very aware of when his heat cycles are set to begin. He has recorded them every year, the day they start and the day they end, in order to ensure that he can be in a comfortable place when they happen.

He has never had an Alpha knot him during his heat, preferring to handle them alone, using specialized toys to make it easier. He requests time off from work, makes sure he has plenty of food and drink, and just waits it out. The only person he's ever allowed near him during a heat has been his brother Aden, and only for the first day or two when it is not yet in the worst stages. After that, even his brother is banned from being anywhere near him until it's over and he's had the time to clean and air out his home.

Maybe its my brother in law cooking again? Maybe I’m just imagining the smell... Whatever it is. Its so GOOD!
