Little about me: You can call me Zen. I've been in the Dragon age fandom and RPC for about ten years now, though there have definitely been times of inactivity, usually when final fantasy or some other game eats my brain. The urge to snap back was strong. Exhaustion and thinning patience clear in every inch of him, but he resisted. Daylen knew Jasper was hurting, and not just physically. He’d lost a literal piece of himself, and was struggling with the aftermath. Unfortunately, that also meant he wasn’t taking the best care of himself, and was being a general ass to everyone around him. As his partner, Daylen was taking the full brunt of it, but he was determined not to let the other man force him away. Jasper needed him, and he wasn’t going to abandon him just because things were hard right at the moment.

Instead, he took a breath, and tried again. A lecture was not was he was going for, and hopefully his words and actions would land better this time.

“Jas, darling, I am not trying to lecture you. I just want to make sure the infection hasn’t come back,” he explained softly, because Maker, that had been a terrifying turn after already almost losing the man once.

“After, perhaps we can take a nap?”

Eli kind of felt like he was going to be sick. He’d been living and training with the Avvar in Stone Bear hold ever since he’d learned they had a method of separating a spirit from its host. One that, for all intents and purposes, worked incredibly well. That wasn’t the concern, and in fact he was looking forward to completing it after the amount of study and practice he’d put into it. No, what worried him was what came after.

His greatest fear was now looming on the horizon and Eli was sick at the thought of it. He didn’t know if letting Harmony go would result in him being made Tranquil again or not, and if it did, he didn’t know if he’d ever come back from it. There were methods to reverse the rite permanently of course, but they weren’t widely known and there was never a guarantee that it would work anyway. Cassandra had promised to try of course, and he trusted her to do her best, and that was really all there was to it.

Alaric’s steady presence at his side was, as ever, a balm to his nerves however and he gave the other man’s hand a squeeze.

Also Ethan: goes military instead

Max sighed, shoulders dropping for half a second before he straightened up again. He and Morren had had this argument before. A few times actually. She’d been firmly against him attending the approaching Conclave since he’d received word from his family requesting that he attend as their representative. She’d been curious at first, since she knew he had a human family as well as the pack, but she hadn’t understood at first. To say she’d been against the idea when she’d fully grasped the situation was an understatement. She worried they’d figure out what he was, that they’d hurt him at best or kill him at worst.

She’d gotten even more uneasy about it as he’d begun making preparations for it. Different clothes. Different armor. He’d cut his hair back to the short undercut he’d used to keep it in all the time, and begun carrying himself differently.

‘Not her brother’ she’d said at one point. ‘Wrong’ she’d added, and he’d flinched from her.

He knew what she meant of course. She knew him as wild and wolfish, not as the child of nobles, and she didn’t like the change in his behavior. He’d still been himself around her and the pack most of the time, but as the day edged closer, he’d fallen back into old habits easier than he’d expected to.

“I have to,” he told her, “I can’t just not show up. My family would be shamed and disgraced if I did so, and I won’t do that to them.”
