when they meet
Good to see Eruri, Reibert and Yumikuri getting the praise they deserve in the JP fandom
Pixiv and Twitter results never lie about that thing. Twitter even less so since Pixiv has become more of an art dump summarizing their Twitter activity.
jeanmarco is so 2013 it's not popular anymore and fans stopped caring about jean long ago
Which is why I said “when Marco is brought up”, because otherwise it doesn’t have much material to breathe -not even merch-, except ultra-nostalgic fans who can’t get past Trost. I disagree about people not caring about Jean anymore. Despite him being sidelined, he’s often used as a shipping proxy with almost everyone. It’s not uncommon for me to stumble on some berujean, erejean or raijean on my TL. People find him very shippeable for some reason.
how about eren/historia and reiner/historia? how popular are they in the Japan fandom?
These two pairings are extremely niche compared to yumikuri. Only a minority ships them and I think Eren/Historia in particular started gaining following because of a portion of Eren fans who read the manga.
Going by Pixiv content submissions alone:
Eren/Historia counts 72 submissions from the erekuri tag and 205 from the erehisu one. In comparison, Eren/Levi counts 18,982 submissions (using the ereri tag) and Eren/Mikasa counts 3174.
Reiner/Historia counts 441 submissions from the raikuri tag and 36 from the raihisu tag. In comparison, the yamaoku tag (Reiner/Bertolt) counts 1604 submissions. Raiberu counts 2569 submissions and berurai counts 2143.
In comparison, the yumikuri tag counts 4468 submissions and 258 submissions from the yumihisu one.
I had to count the total number since Ymir and Historia had the same amount of votes from last poll and the girls rank low in popularity (13th -573 votes- and 14th -543 votes- respectively). Meaning you have their ship and several side ships with men (I’ve even seen some beruhisu). At least, S2 and merch (3DS video game, Sawano exhibit, perfumes, etc...) gave the ship a popularity boost.
Just curious: how did you find out what the most popular ships in Japan are? Or more specifically did you look at Twitter, pixiv, 2chan, a combo, none of the above? I'm asking because Ive been waiting to check out more Japanese fandom stuff but I don't know where to start
I asked a friend who was more aware than me about fandom trends and merch sales and checked Pixiv/Twitter results.
Day 17: Valentine’s Day Pairing: RaiKuri (Reiner x Krista)
The part where Reiner thought of marrying Krista/Historia is still one of my old favourites. Well, since they both kinda survived until the recent chapters, perhaps they might have a chance... Who knows? :)
... Krista: H-Happy Valentine’s Day! Please accept my modest gift...!! ♥ Reiner: Eh? EHH?! FOR ME??! Krista: S-sorry...that’s...I... Reiner: She’s cute...I want to marry her ♥
what he thinks and what she thinks
