I think their reactions would be very different,but they would both be grateful towards the other.

Vincent would be touched by the gesture,but a bit disgusted by the bloody human skin mask. I think due to his deformation,let's call it,his skin is very delicate and gets easily infected,the guy literally misses an eye,so he definitely couldn't wear the mask directely on his face even if he wanted to. However,I could see him melting wax in the inside of it to be able to use it. This way,only the wax is touching his face,but he's still wearing Thomas' gift,which makes Thomas so extremely happy.

Instead of only writing male/ftm reader,from now on I will write ANY queer reader (ex: nonbinary,genderfluid, agender,demiboy...)

I think one of the things that brought them togheter was how they could understand eachoter. Whetever the setting it's in Tcm's or HoW's time,deformed/scarred people were treated horribly and rejected. Both of their faces are heavily disfigured since they were very young,and they know damn well how much that affeect one's life. They both also come from somewhat abusive families,and I can see the similarities between how Bo treates Vincent and Hoyt treats Thomas,as if they're below them,something they have to keep because of family bonds more than out of love. They both hardly talk,so they can communicate well,being used to it,which is something I think Thomas would particularly adore. Having someone ACTUALLY understanding and listening to him instead of just treating him like an animal? He's smitten. I can also see Thomas being interested in art,it's just that no one in the family ever ever took him seriously. So he's fascinated by Vincent's talent. He won't try to make anything at first,scared to mess something up,but if Vincent makes an effort to include him,he'll be even more in love,and much happier. He really needed a way to express himself.

About how they meet,realistically it's impossible. They canonically lived in different timelines,Thomas lived like 70 years before Vincent or something like that (I don't remember the years exactly). But if they actually lived at the same time,they might have met after the museum fire. Maybe Bo and Vincent survived and ran away,and they ended up having to go as far away as possible to get away from the police. They were then stopped by Hoyt,that forced Vincent to take his mask off. Seeing Vincent's face,Hoyt might have wanted to show his deformed face to the rest of the family "I got a freak of a brother that has a face as bad as yours,bet you two would like eachoter" he says,laughing as if it's the funniest thing on earth. Turns out,Vincent and Thomas did end up liking eachoter (much to Hoyt's disapprovement).

And about their relationship,it's silemt and sweet,but also somewhat obsessive. Thomas is extremely protective,he grew up and was raised to be a provider and a protector,and Vincent never had someone actually protecting him,so he ignores the red flags. I headcanon that,since the family won't let Vincent turn the corpses into wax statues,since they're their main source of food,Thomas starts to hide some pieces from each corpse. A hand there,a thigh there,until he can sew them togheter to make one full corpse without his family going hungry. It's kinda gross,but Vincent appreciates the gesture and actually manages to make a statue out of it,he melts all the candles and anything made of wax in the house to get the material and Thomas takes a beating for it,but he couldn't be happier because Vincent is so goddamn happy to be able to still make his art. Thomas also takes any art supplies the victims might have had before Hoyt sees it,to gift them to Vincent.

So yeah,they're a very cute couple of completely unhinged murderers.
