okay this one I kind of fw both 😳. Obviously if we're using canon as a Jirby "base", yeah, I think it's pretty toxic and doomed (NOT A BAD THING). Jill is NOT exactly the nicest person when it comes to achieving fame, and I'm pretty sure even if she did have feelings, she would have betrayed Kirby in one way or another. I think the "doomed" part and toxicity are what make Jirby as appealing to me at least.

However, I do think Jirby can be happy, but this is more heavily dependent on the storyline they follow (AUs, etc). Even if it's canon divergence, it does have potential to be healthy, because lot of their interactions seem "healthy" with pre-reveal Jill, of course.

I'm more inclined to lean on toxic/doomed Jirby, because I think it serves as the backbone to preserving both of their characters in some way, shape or form. Jill is a very flawed character, while Kirby is comparatively good-natured (dawg becomes an officer 🤫). This contrast adds a lot more depth in my opinion.

In sum, I think Jirby can be happy, and toxic/doomed, but I prefer the latter. (although I love both of them very much as jirby nation stands for ALL jirby)
