In a world where one day mysterious gates began to appear—gates from which monsters poured out—humanity was forced to fight. Some people were better at it than others, and so academies were founded to train Hunters, whose job was to clear the dungeons that formed beyond the gates.
Magic developed, as did countless enchanted items of varying power.
In the center of Vale, a gate opened—and in the blink of an eye, a Huntress arrived.
Not just any Huntress—the most powerful warrior on Remnant.
Pyrrha Nikos, the undefeated champion, master of spear and shield.
Her outfit had barely changed since Beacon, with a few exceptions: she now covered her chest completely, her armor rose up to her neck, and her back was fully protected. Her midriff was no longer exposed, and her skirt had been replaced with leggings.
Her breathtaking beauty was overwhelming.
Pyrrha cleared the dungeon effortlessly and walked out.
Crowds cheered for her, shouting her name.
She loved seeing people happy, she loved feeling the joy her victories brought them, she loved the sense of protecting them.
Afterwards, Pyrrha returned home—a luxurious mansion—and stepped inside, greeted by the two people she loved most.
An incredibly talented sniper with extraordinarily powerful silver eyes.
One smile from her, and Pyrrha had been helplessly in love.
And then there was her second wife—
An exceptionally talented mage specializing in summons, with long, beautiful white hair.
Their first meeting had been rough, but eventually Weiss opened up, and Pyrrha fell for her too.
The three of them had been married for three years now, and Pyrrha wished to be with them forever.
Her scroll vibrated. She picked it up and read the message.
Ruby (displeased):
“You got another summons?”
Weiss (offended):
“Incredible. You should refuse and stay with us.”
Pyrrha (lovingly):
“You know how much I love you both… but that’s the price of being the strongest.”
(She hugged Weiss and Ruby.)
“I promise I’ll be back by morning. You won’t even wake up. I’ll be right here.”
Weiss and Ruby trusted their beloved wife, so they let her go after a few kisses.
But the truth was different.
Pyrrha hadn’t been given a new mission.
This was the dirty secret she carried.
The Secret Life of Pyrrha Nikos
In Vale, she entered one of the hotels and slipped into a particular room.
She undid her braid—her beautiful red hair falling to the middle of her back—and changed her outfit.
She put on a white shirt, over it a silver chestplate, then a black leather jacket.
On her forearms she strapped gray bracers and gloves.
She put on long black jeans, then gray greaves and reinforced black boots.
Finally, she removed one of her earrings, replaced it with another, took off her usual jewelry, and put on a strange necklace.
The moment the necklace touched her skin—her hair magically shifted into pure black.
Her emerald eyes turned a pearly rose.
She was no longer Pyrrha Nikos.
Pyra hid her clothes in the room, walked out, got into a bullhead, and flew toward Ansel, a village far from Vale.
Upon landing, she walked toward a house at the forest’s edge.
She stepped onto the cozy little porch and opened the door.
The first to greet her was Juniper, a large white-and-gold rabbit the size of a medium dog.
Pyra:
“Hey, Jani. Were you a good girl? Did you guard the house?”
(She scratched the rabbit between its strange horn-like growths, and Juniper happily leaned into the petting.)
Suddenly she heard someone running—
Persi (excited, shouting):
“MOM! You’re home!”
(He threw himself into her arms.)
“How was it? How many monsters did you beat? Ooh! Did you bring me a souvenir?!”
Pyra looked at her ten-year-old son with love—his long blond hair and bright emerald eyes full of excitement.
Pyra (gently):
“Sorry, sweetheart, I didn’t bring anything today. But I fought many powerful monsters—one of them looked like a dog the size of an Ursa, with three heads that breathed fire.”
Persi (eyes sparkling like stars):
“Awesome!”
Then another voice called from behind him—
Jaune:
“Persi, did you set the table?”
Persi (embarrassed):
“S-sorry, Dad!”
Pyra looked toward the voice—and saw her guilty secret:
Her beloved husband, Jaune Arc, whom she had been with for eleven years.
His goofy smile, his long hair tied in a braid—or, as he called it, a “wolf tail.”
His well-kept beard.
Pyra sometimes wondered why he had silver streaks in his hair, but she never asked.
Jaune (excited):
“Pyr, sweetheart—you’re home!”
(He approached and kissed her lovingly, a kiss Pyra eagerly returned.)
“How was it? Are you alright? Want some chocolate cake?”
In the background, Persi watched his parents kiss with total disgust.
Jaune:
“You’ll understand when you fall in love. Now go set the table.”
Pyra sat down for dinner with the family she would die for.
As she listened to them talk and laugh, a thought slipped into her mind—
Pyra (in her thoughts):
I could have this forever…
All I’d have to do is get rid of Pyrrha.
Then everything would be mine… only mine…
But just as quickly as the thought appeared, it vanished.
She pushed it away and focused on enjoying the warm, loving atmosphere of her home.
