I’ve been a BTS ever since we launched their first track here at AVA Live Radio. Watching the world go BTS crazy has been so much fun. BTS's Map of the Soul Persona: 7 is one of the most anticipated albums of the year and the band finally dropped their first look into it with the track "Black Swan". I’m from the 80’s so every movie they mocked made me so into this video. I also used to love the Jonas Brothers when they were the crazy viral kid group back when.. I was so curios to see what they were up to. This song and video really got my attention. Not only is this video super adorable, but the song is complete bop. While the JoBros haven't officially announced a new album for 2020, we sure hope there's more than this came from.

Mac Miller left us way to soon. He has to be on my list so he will never be forgotten.  Mac Miller's posthumous album, Circles, will be one last chance for fans to listen to anything new from the rapper who left too soon. 'Maybe I Know' is a very personal song for me. I wrote this song, in about 15 minutes, sitting in the hallway of the first home my wife and I bought together. We were expecting our first child, and it occurred to me that I was going to be a parent in a few short months, responsible for raising a child. I had no idea how to do that. 

Despite my love and gratitude for my own parents, I knew I did not want to follow their example in raising my own children. I suddenly felt very vulnerable, without a plan, mentor, or manual for this hugely important task. The song reflects in part on my memories of my parents’ relationship during my childhood and resolves with the hope/belief that I have the right instincts to do it better.

Musically this song pulls in listeners across all age and demographic groups with it's big, fat, power-ballad feel choruses reminiscent of popular radio hits of decades past made fuller by the addition of Hammond organ (played by Ken Stringfellow) and layered background vocals making an instant crowd favorite for singing along at live shows. The band takes an interesting turn in the verses effectively utilizing guitar effects and a rhythm section groove that pushes the listener forward, creating a tension that releases into the chorus. We notice that people who have never heard the band before can really sink their teeth into this one quite readily at our live shows.

Right now we are... 2020 will be the best year Purusa has ever had. Shows are already booked supporting nationally-known artists all throughout the Pacific Northwest including multiple stops in Seattle and Portland. We just released what we believe is our best work to date. Purusa on vinyl will be released soon, plus a whole album of new material collaboratively written by all 4 members is of the band is in the works!
