It was meant to be a nice peaceful vacation to spend some time together without any work or Avenger's emergencies getting in the way. A week for just the two of them with Tony packing a surprise for the last day.
The pair of them should have known this week wouldn't go to plan when their alarm failed to go off and they nearly missed their flight due to oversleeping.
After this it was one thing after another for Tony and Peter. From Peter's suitcase splitting open and spilling all his clothes, to every meal out being ruined by Tony's meal being dropped into his lap or Peter's food coming out wrong and in one case containing mint, the one thing he's allergic too.
This vacation was an unmitigated disaster but Tony hoped his surprise would make it up to Peter.
That was until a seagull chose that moment to steal the engagement ring from Tony's hand as he proposed to Peter.

Summary:
Beca has the day off. Stacie has the day off. Stacie is planning to propose to Aubrey.
That's all I'm going to say...
Notes:
This is what happens to you when you're quarantined. While burning through countless hours of tv, you get crazy ideas. Thursday morning, I was not planning on submitting anything for day 4 of Rare Pair Week. So much for that plan :) I do hope you enjoy this one. It is the quickest I've written a story, and it was so much fun.
Thank you to @ridiculously-over-obssessed for allowing me to bogart a line from one of her awesome fics. Make sure you read all her stuff.
Request from @glaciesdraco from her anonymous box! Hope you like it!
"Hehe, Shizu-chan is upstairs. He won't expect this at all. The ring is so deep in the cake it'll take him a bit to find it too." Izaya said before licking his finger. "Alright, time to get the beast."
"Hmmmmm, I thought I told that idiot to wait up here." Izaya said irritability. "Where the heck is he?"
"Hey flea, sorry I needed a smoke." Shizuo said as he entered the kitchen. "I actually wanted to talk to you about something. It's been on my mind a while." Shizuo looked around confused. "Where did he go? Bastard tells to me to wait and he ain't even here. Did he ditch me? Huh, what's this?"
Shizuo walked close to find a slice of cake and a cold glass of milk. "Hell yeah. Cake. Stupid bastard trying to surprise me and then leave? Fuck it." Shizuo pulled up a chair.
Izaya came walking downstairs. "Shizu-chan there you-" he stopped immediately after seeing the cake. "Did you. Eat. That whole slice?" He asked Shizuo.
Shizuo looked away. "Nah. Wasn't me."
"Shizu-chan... it's all over your face..." Izaya felt his blood begin to boil.
"The fuck was I supposed to do? You weren't here and the cake was." Shizuo argued.
"I WAS COMING TO GET YOU, YOU PROTOZAN!" Izaya screeched as he leapt for Shizuo.
*Crashing, screaming and breaking noises.*
Shizuo breathed heavy. "You. Fucker. It was just cake!"
Izaya lay panting on the floor. "Just cake? There was. A ten grand ring in there. I was going to propose to you moron."
Shizuo dropped the chair he was about to smash Izaya with.
"You were going to propose to me Izaya?" Shizuo asked in shock.
Izaya sat up. "GOING to."
Shizuo sighed and readjusted himself in the floor.
"Izaya...I was going to ask you." Shizuo said softly on one knee.
Izaya starred in shock before letting out a cackle. "This is just ridiculous!"
Shizuo waited until he stopped laughing. "That a yes?"
Izaya looked up quick. "Of course it is idiot!" He then took another leap at Shizuo.
"I fucking love you louse." Shizuo grinned against Izaya's mouth.
Izaya pulled away with a smirk. "I love you too beast. Can't wait for you to shit that out later."
(sorry for the awfully long wait :âD I hope this ficlet reaches you anyway, nonnie, and Iâm doubly sorry for kinda twisting that prompt around, but I had an unexpectedly hard time with 3. especially :âD)
..
âPoorLenny,â Lisa drawls, even as she smacks him over the head with her newest Chanelbag. Lenâs pretty sure itâs no coincidence, but heâs in no place to contest hercasual violence right now.
âI donâtwant your pity, I want your absence,â he snaps and takes another swig of hisbeer before she yanks the bottle out of his grip, snorts when she reads the label, and returns it to his sorry self.
âDidnât youget the memo that drowning your sorrows only works if you get actual alcoholinvolved?â
He ignoresher, just like heâs trying to ignore most of his life right now. Itâs probablynot the most mature way of coping with shit, but at the moment, Len doesnâtcare. All he wants is to wallow and scowl at the wall for the night, and thenmaybe go plan a heist. Something obnoxious and loud, something that would be agiant âfuck youâ in the face of a hero. Thehero.
Which is stupid, because Len is the one in the wrong, but he panicked and ran and now thereâs noway back. Technically, Barry could probably take him back in time to the pointwhen Len hasnât fucked up yet, but Barry would be right there with him, and hencelay the problem.
Lisa, unfortunately, doesnât take the hint and keeps staring him down until Lenscowls at her, without much heat, because heâs reserving all heâs got for theburning self-hatred at the moment.
âWhat?â
âYou tellme,â she shrugs and puts her legs up onto the table, crossing her ankles andwatching him like a hawk. âI havenât seen you moping this badly for quite sometime. I think it was⌠oh yes, the first time Barry told you it was a mistake.â
He winces, unable to hold back the hurt at the sound of the kidâs name, and Lisa growsserious, zoning in on his pain with scary precision. Feet off the table in asecond, she leans forward, studying him like the answerâs written in his eyes.Maybe it is, the way he hasnât been able to stop thinking about the wholeordeal.
âDid he breakup with you? Is that it? Iâm going to-â
â-donothing,â Len interrupts, before she can get explicit in her fantasies ofbodily harm inflicted upon the man he shouldnât, but does, love.
And thereinlies the problem. Much as he likes Barry, they could never work long-term. Notwith Barryâs family, not with Lenâs, not with the diverging paths their liveshave taken. Too bad Barry didnât understand that fact, or dismissed it with hisendless optimism.
Lisaâsstill watching him, and Lenâs beer is gone, sloshing warm and unpleasant in hismouth like it canât quite wash away the taste of the harsh words he spoke. Hewishes he could forget, get drunk for real and stop thinking about the wholemess for a few hours, but his father has taken that from him forty years agoand Lenâs not ready to become an even more screwed-up version of Lewis, noteven when he canât think of any other way to cope.
âLenny,âLisa says, and he must look like shit for her to take that tone with him, softand empathetic and careful, âwhat happened?â
Thereâs nouse in putting it off or lying: Lisa has become friends with Iris during thewhirlwind of Lenâs relationship with Barry, and bad news sure travel fast.
âHeproposed.â
âHe what?!â
Len winces atthe memory of Barryâs bright eyes, his hopeful smile, the way his voice shook alittle as he fumbled with the words. He picks at the label on his empty bottle, because destruction is apparently his motto for the day, and sighs.
âYou heardme.â
âSure Iheard you, I just donât get why youâre not somewhere celebra- you said no.â
Lisa soundsâŚshocked, and Len frowns. She was always quick to tell him that he should becareful, and that Barry was too young, too eager, too different from anythingtheyâve ever known, so it feels like betrayal that sheâs not there for him rightnow, saying he did the right thing.
âYouâre anidiot, Lenny. Why did you say no?! Youâre obviously crazy about this guy, andmuch as it pains me to say, youâve been good together, good for each other. Sure heâs a copâs kid,and half a cop himself, and overall too much of a good guy if you ask me, butâŚthe way you looked at him, Lenny, I havenât seen you look that way at anyone, ever, and heâs been looking right back, so whatâs the problem?â
Len pushesthe bottle away, almost wishing it would crash over the side of the table and shatter, but of course it doesnât, because he canât do anything right today.
âYouâresupposed to talk me out of this. In fact, youâve been talking me out of thisfor more than a year.â
âAnd youalways do the exact opposite of what I say, so donât you dare blame it on me,chicken-shit.â
He whirlsaround to face her, anger rising in his chest like a tidal wave. âWhat did youjust-â
âYou heardme,â Lisa scoffs, not budging an inch under the weight of his glare. âYou knowwhat I think? Youâre so scared of losing him, or hurting him, so you pushed himaway now rather than later. Great job. Because thatâs going to make you bothfeel so much better.â
Lenâsknuckles ache with the urge to punch something, a wall, or some assholeâs face âtoo bad he chose their private warehouse for his moping, instead of a bar wherehe could pick a fight or two. It makes sense, what Lisaâs saying, but the thingis, those words would sound better in some fucking romantic movie where theproblems magically disappear because of love.
âWouldnâtwork,â he shrugs, rolling his shoulders to release some of the tension thatâs beengripping his muscles for hours now. âHeâs too much of a good guy, you said it.Sees something in me thatâs not there, I canât live up to that. Eventually heâsgonna be disappointed, Lise, and itâll be too damn hard for him to walk away ifthereâs a ring on his finger. Thatâs the kind of guy he is. I want to be withhim, but tonight⌠it changes things.â
âHave youtold him that?â
Lisaâsquestion catches him off-balance and he blinks for a moment before the wordsactually make it to his brain in all their confusing glory.
âWhat?â
âHave youtold him how you feel, Lenny? I mean, really told him. That youâre worried youârenot good enough for him â that you want to be with him, without the rings andall that jazz. Doesnât matter if thatâs true a year or a decade from now, andit doesnât matter if it changes for him, either. If all you can really promiseis right now, he should know. And you canât decide for him if thatâs enough ornot. Much as I like to tease you about cradle-robbing, heâs a grown man. Talkto him, Lenny. And listen.â
Lenâsknee-jerk reaction is to shake his head and tell her sheâs crazy⌠but her wordsmake a terrifying sort of sense in his mind all of a sudden, and heâs pushingaway from the table before he can think himself out of it again. He canâtpossibly screw things up any worse than they already are, and the thin sliverof hope that maybe, he could make things better, gives him the momentum to turn and walk away without a word, for the secondtime tonight.
Hopefullytowards a brighter future.
âŚ.
Lisa rollsher eyes at her brotherâs retreating back: at forty-four, Lenny should reallylearn to talk about his feelings without grimacing like his teeth are beingpulled. But who better to teach him than a bright-eyed twenty-something withthe innate charm of an overgrown puppy?
Yeah, Lisacanât say sheâs a fan⌠but she would gladly give her brother to a sasquatch ifhe made Lennyâs eyes light up like Barry does.
Her phonebuzzes in her pocket and she pulls it out to find a very angry text messagefrom âTheHottestWestâ.
WHAT HAS UR BROTHER DONE IM AT BARRYS HES DEVASTATED
Lisa smirksand fires off a quick reply, then reaches under the table for an unopenedbottle.
u should clear out lens on his way makeup sexto follow 4sure
An angryemoji, followed by a disgusted one, arrives in the next second.
But sinceLenny fails to come back home that night, Lisa believes that Iris took heradvice, in the end.
