To obtain Chartered Status as a Professional Engineer, the candidate must complete a Competency Standard Stage 2 assessment process. The Stage 2 Competency Standard represents the individual's experience, expertise, engineering application skills, professional credentials, values, and disciplines required to work alone or unaccompanied. As the term implies, Chartered practitioners have attained the highest degree of technical competencies over several years of hard work, qualifications, and experience. So, to be recognized as a Chartered Professional Engineer by Engineers Australia, your qualifications in different fields of specialization are put to the test.
Purpose of Competency Standard Stage 2
The competency level stage 2 assessment is the entry point for Chartered membership of Engineers Australia (CPEng) and the National Engineering Register (NER). These occupations are recognized by the government and by people all over the world. You would be required to remain competitive in your field of expertise.
As a Technical Engineer, you would be asked to deliver a range of competencies based on your expertise. Let us go into the most critical aspects of the competencies.
Learn about the needs of clients, stakeholders, and culture as a whole.
Aiming to increase commercial, social, and environmental facets of engineering goods over their lifespan.
Deal among other occupations from various backgrounds.
Declare that the engineering feedback has been wholly integrated into the overall project or software.
Using technology to interpret cultural, industrial, and government possibilities
Ensure that costs, risks, and thresholds are well known concerning the outcomes
ensuring an acceptable mix between technological and non-technical issues
Managing risk thus ensuring long-term sustainability
Assuring that all aspects of a project, process, or practice are founded on solid reasoning and fundamental principles.
Simply defining how innovations relate to existing ones.
Professional Engineers' work reviews the interaction between humans and technology. They make significant contributions to engineering research and development engineering experience. The Stage 2 Competency Standards extend to all engineering activities, which are classified into four categories.
Personal Commitment
Obligation to the community
Value in the workplace
Technical proficiency
Pathways for Competency Standard
Applicants may apply for Stage 2 competency using one of the following routes. These are the paths you should take to create an effective document that reflects your current experience.
Professional Development Program (PDP)
Engineering Competency Report (ECR)
Mature Experience Engineer (MEE)
Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA)
Document requirements for Competency Standard Stage 2
For Chartered acceptance, applicants must complete a set of paper submissions. These are the documents required to qualify as a Professional Engineer.
Engineering Competency Claims (ECCs)
Engineering Competency Claims (ECC) necessitate the listing of your core competencies as well as your job experience. Engineering Competency Claims represent your participation in the professional area of engineering. The cumulative number of Competency claims that must be made is determined by the pathway you choose. E.g., the ECR pathways include a total of sixteen engineering competency statements.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Record
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) demonstrates the skill sets and expertise in the engineering industry that you have asserted. It is an essential component of the National Engineering Registration (NER) application. You must demonstrate how many CPD hours you have completed in the last three years. It provides information about your dedication to the engineering product, technical performance, and workplace expectations.
Engineering Experience Record (EER)
This checklist contains a list of all of your professional experiences. You must have the name of the company with which you served. You must also list the work duties and obligations you held throughout your career. The Engineering Experience Record (ERR) has a word limit of around 700 pages.
Up to date CV
For your Stage 2 assessment application, you must submit your most recent Curriculum Vitae/Resume. Have your most recent career experience as well as the one you are actively interested in. It must be concise and easy to understand.

SYRACUSE, N.Y | Protesters want release of frat video deemed racist, sexist
SYRACUSE, N.Y. | April 18, 2018 (AP)(STL.News) Protesters at New York’s Syracuse University have demanded that the school release video showing racist and sexist behavior by members of a now-suspended fraternity.
The school’s chancellor, Ken Syverud, described the video involving members of Theta Tau, a professional engineering fraternity, as racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist and hostile to people with disabilities. He said the videos were turned over to the school’s Department of Public Safety for possible disciplinary or legal action.
“I am appalled by this and deeply concerned for all members of our community,” Chancellor Kent Syverud wrote in an email, according to The Post-Standard .
Theta Tau is investigating and said the behaviors described were not representative of its “very diverse organization.”
On Tuesday, California Polytechnic State University suspended all fraternities and sororities after photos surfaced showing fraternity members in blackface.
Syracuse University held a gathering Wednesday to promote “community dialogue.” Later, about 100 people marched through the campus carrying signs and chanting. Then, 400 attended a three-hour discussion, venting frustrations over what they view as systemic racism and sexism at the school.
The topics included a 2014 video that showed an SU women’s soccer player directing racial and homophobic slurs at another person. Students at the discussion recommended leading by example, making certain African-American Studies courses mandatory and finding a better way to organize.
“This gives me a reason to stay here until they fix things,” junior Saumya Melwani said.
