I was reading a story with mom Maul (actually gave birth I assume from the way things are going) from the lovely @moonfrost-614-queen-of-darkness and despite the fact it's in the future and we do not see pregnant Maul till now at least, I got plagued with thoughts of what a pregnant Maul would be like, so bear with me right now:
We could take any moment in time, but to get a manageable chaotic level let's say it happens right after he takes over Mandalore, just killed Pre Vizsla. So it's his most secure and collected moment in the clone wars.
"Oh but he would have been bisected already-" Obi-Wan cut a few centimeters below the waist, still lost most of his legs, kept where his "uterus" would have been. Still very angry and still went just as crazy. Not a lot of people know this, but if a person is going through a phase or moment where the body deems the environment unsafe for a pregnancy - for causes like extreme stress levels, malnutrition, intense physical exertion - it may cause hormonal disruption and other reactions that disrupt the reproductive cycle, entering the body in a survival mode. It's why it would be very unlikely for women to be able to get pregnant during an apocalypse and other things. We could imagine Maul was on this survival mode instead during his years on Lotho Minor, and adrenaline and satisfaction of his wins till he got to the Mand'alor title took him off of this mode quickly and one singular mistake turned into a pregnancy.
For example, he just got the throne and Mandalore is in a static state due to the loss of the pacifists, so someone (probably Almec) proposes a city wide party, during a few days. lets say 5, to celebrate the victory. Maul accepts it to have time to focus on all his plans before continuing with everything. So Satine gets a few more days since he doesn't let her call Obi-Wan yet. He ends up going to the party despite everything (you can put whatever ship you have here, even female characters one since we're already putting a male pregnancy anyway) and it's a one night stand. He doesn't think too much about it and just goes on as he would afterwards.
The days of the party go by and he starts to feel weird, hes feeling nauseous, his chest hurts, his mood is even more unpredictable than normal, and just a few days before the revenge plan, Savage finally convices him to go to a doctor before it starts.
So he goes, alone and turning his eyes because he doesn't think is necessary and Savage is being paranoid but it won't hurt to check. It's the same mandalorian doctor who performed the surgery of his mandalorian prosthetics, he's good enough, his name is Meko.
Meko might die of anxiety, hes a very young and inexperienced doctor still, so the health of the Mand'alor feels like a lot, especially when this Mand'alor decapitated the previous Mand'alor a week ago. But he pushes through, he can do it, he made the Mand'alor new legs and they are still working well even with all the fighting he made! And its just a check up of safety, there's no reason to worry too much.
Meko wants to cry when he sees the scans and realize he is the one who will have to tell the Mand'alor that he is with child.
Maul is waiting uncharacteristically patient (He likes Meko, he does a good enough job and talks fast enough, he's willing to wait a little bit) till he says something. A few minutes go by I compete silence before he asks: So?
And Meko, swallowing hard and trying to keep his composure and look professional, open his mouth, doesn't say anything, closes and opens again before blurting out: Congratulations?
Half an hour goes by of bad explanation before he manages to say: you'repregnantcongratulationsorcondolencesMand'alor!
And he fears for his life. Maul has gone full carzy before. He was a spider. Everyone knows that, and now Meko will be responsible for the second time the Mand'alor went fully crazy and he's gonna get killed-
Then Maul gets up and leaves.
The Mand'alor locks himself into his room and doesn't talk to anyone for three days. After the one day of failure in communication, Savage scares Meko into telling what happened and now there's two zabraks in complete shock and disbelief.
Savage feel like he aged a 100 years. When did he even get pregnant? Who got him pregnant? What are they going to do now?! He tries to talk to Maul in the other two days but after every failure he starts to fear that Maul plans on killing the baby and himself of starvation. Whitout any better ideas, he swallows the trauma and distrust and call their mom.
Talzin is the happiest anyone has ever seen her. Her beloved daughter (Maul is still very much a son, Savage remembers her but its like it has fallen on deaf ears) is having a baby! Whoever is the father doesn't matter that child will be a powerful and wonderful addition to the family! She goes to Mandalore and is the first person to get a reaction out of Maul when she fights him to let her do a check up on his health again (Savage is ignoring the look of "traitor" Maul gives him) with his pure disbelief and indignation when she says she will be staying to look after him during the gestation.
And that's how the highest in command find out about the pregnancy too: Gar Saxon has no common sense, he doesn't get why everyone is making such a drama and would have suggested names had Rook not stopped him. Rook is worried sick, shes never been pregnant but that's because she is horrified of pregnancy, she was more than ready to go the adoption route if she even wanted children, and now the Mand'alor is going through it? She starts to make plans, anxiously get everything ready for the baby and reads a full emotional support book to help pregnant sencients in a day. Almec decided that the best he could do would just be dealing with all the political and ruling aspects while this happens, he happily avoids everything relating to the pregnancy right now. The rest is surprisingly happy and excited for the Mand'alor. Everyone agreed to not ask about the father.
It's a few days of this before Talzin sees Maul face, she recognizes that look on his eyes and what he is planning to do and sighs before saying that she can take the baby when its born and he won't have to deal with it, before a small, really low voice, almost like a child speak: Is it gonna hurt all the time?
She stays is silence for a second, slowly puts her arm around her child and holds him like she hasn't done since the say he himself was born. She says it does. That she, honestly, hated it. It made her feel weak and useless, and thats why she did it so few times despite the fact that as the most powerful witch, it was expected of her to have as much children as possible. She says its was a long and painful experience from the first to last day, but that it was worth it. Because she knew that the life she was carrying would be by her side by everything, that it would choose her as its mother besides everything, that as family, you don't let it go. (Maul thinks about saying that she let him go for quite some time, and Savage too. But he stays quiet)
She says she knew she was carrying someone she could always trust, and that was an aspect that made everything worth it. Maul only decides to keep the baby after that, still uneasy but he dares to have hope for once.
The plans are postponed for after the war, for now Maul gets out of his room and decides to focus on reinforcing Mandalore while he can. It's decided that the pregnacy will be kept as a secret between the high command.
And that was what I had mostly coherently planned out in my head till now, the rest could depend a lot on the ship or even the way the story plans to go, it could even continue whitout a father too if it was written the right way, but I don't have the time and I know I would lose interest fast if I was the one writing it. I thought about a lot more stuff, about how it could affect the dark side and his connection to it and even bring more characters into the mix but I'll just throw this out here for now to see if anyone is interested, anyone who wants to written, draw or make any content of it, feel free to do it!
