#preconceptions

Don't make generalizations. This is not a request, this is an order: don't make generalizations. Avoid them as you would avoid COVID-19.   Not all Irish like to drink whiskey - many won't even like alcohol at all (I guess). In the same way that not all Britons appreciate tea and not all Germans drink beer. Not all Spaniards like bullfights. Not all Brazilians like to dance samba - many, probably, can dance as well as a lamppost. I am even ready to say that not all French like croissants and not all Belgians like crisps and chips... although, in both cases, that should be severely punished by law.   But generalizations do not imply just national stereotypes - there are also sex/genre stereotypes, professional stereotypes and racial stereotypes. Avoid them all. Stereotypes are preconceived ideas and preconceived ideas are no more than a form of prejudice. You can't see, experience and know the world as it is if you are attached to preconceived ideas - by doing so, you are trying to measure the area of a land using litres and gallons. Are you aware how mindless that is? However, that how our mind works - mindlessly.   In romantic relationships, prejudices are like the poison that will kill all the love and affection that once may have existed. And we all know that, in any romantic relationship, genre stereotypes will be almost inevitable - “men this, women that, all men always do, all women could never do it”. Stop it. Now. Once and forever. By pulling these preconceived ideas, you are just creating a barrier between you and the other person - a wall that prevents you to really know that person, a wall made of stupid assumptions that are poisoning your mind and, I have to say it, making you look atrociously stupid.   How many romances were not destroyed by your prejudice? How many possible romances never existed due to your stupid prejudice?   Hopefully, I know that some of you are going to read this text and agree with me. Some will even agree that we all - including me - have space for improvement in this area. But, sadly, most will not reach the meaning of this text... or, perhaps, it’s just me formulating a preconceived assumption based on my misanthropic vision of humankind.   Surprise me, please.   Yours,
