A Simple Prayer Can Turn Fear Into Hope,

It's been a while. I was watching Dexter Season 6, Episode 4, "A Horse of a Different Color" Maybe this isn't the best timing to say this but when would it ever be, right? Haha, just kidding.

I've been completely hooked on this show ever since I started it. I'll admit, I've always been fascinated by serial killers how their minds work, what goes wrong, and what ultimately shapes them into who they become. But that's not really why I'm writing today.

In this season, they're hunting the "Doomsday Killer," one who bases his murders on the Book of Revelation from the bible. The episodes are filled with biblical themes and messages. There's this particular scene where Harrison, Dexter's two-year-old son, needs surgery for appendicitis. After hearing Brother Sam's testimony, Dexter goes to buy coffee from a vending machine and then.. guess what? He prays. He asks for his son to be okay, promising he would do anything in return. In that moment, he wasn't pretending he was just a father, desperate and vulnerable, asking for his child to be spared.

That moment really struck me. That's how faith works, right? I've been in that situation so many times asking for Your help. And it reminded me of what Jamie Sullivan said in A Walk to Remember: "Without suffering, there would be no compassion." Sometimes it feels like You've been waiting for us to ask all along. I love how the gospel still speaks in moments like that.

Heavenly Father, as this new day begins, I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus. I thank You that this morning I do not fight alone. I stand covered, protected, and empowered by Your Spirit.

Today truly marks a remarkable day for me as it is my first day back at work after a significant break. Additionally, I am overjoyed to share the incredible news that my father will be discharged from the hospital today.

Reflecting on this moment, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and admiration for all the prayers and support we received during this challenging time. We are truly fortunate and blessed that God has answered our prayers by guiding my father towards a swift recovery.

As I step into this new chapter at work, I carry a renewed energy and a profound appreciation for life's blessings. The significance of this day reminds me that with faith and determination, we can conquer any obstacles that come our way.
