A Simple Prayer Can Turn Fear Into Hope,

It's been a while. I was watching Dexter Season 6, Episode 4, "A Horse of a Different Color" Maybe this isn't the best timing to say this but when would it ever be, right? Haha, just kidding.

I've been completely hooked on this show ever since I started it. I'll admit, I've always been fascinated by serial killers how their minds work, what goes wrong, and what ultimately shapes them into who they become. But that's not really why I'm writing today.

In this season, they're hunting the "Doomsday Killer," one who bases his murders on the Book of Revelation from the bible. The episodes are filled with biblical themes and messages. There's this particular scene where Harrison, Dexter's two-year-old son, needs surgery for appendicitis. After hearing Brother Sam's testimony, Dexter goes to buy coffee from a vending machine and then.. guess what? He prays. He asks for his son to be okay, promising he would do anything in return. In that moment, he wasn't pretending he was just a father, desperate and vulnerable, asking for his child to be spared.

That moment really struck me. That's how faith works, right? I've been in that situation so many times asking for Your help. And it reminded me of what Jamie Sullivan said in A Walk to Remember: "Without suffering, there would be no compassion." Sometimes it feels like You've been waiting for us to ask all along. I love how the gospel still speaks in moments like that.

In a world that often calls us to follow our own desires, “When I Pray” reminds us that true prayer begins with surrender. Drawing from the Lord’s Prayer and Jesus’ submission in Gethsemane, it calls us to seek the Father’s will above our own.

As the Church navigates increasing spiritual challenges, “Kingdom Call” urges believers to awaken, stand firm in the faith, and live with eternity in view, faithfully proclaiming the gospel until Christ returns.

Many speak of grace as only forgiveness, but Scripture reveals it is far more. “Grace That Breaks Every Chain” proclaims a grace that not only pardons sin but teaches us to deny ungodliness, empowers us toward holiness, and leads us into the freedom Christ has secured for us.

Waiting is never easy, yet it is often where God does His deepest work. “I Will Wait” expresses the quiet confidence of a surrendered heart, choosing patience, trust, and obedience while resting in the assurance that God’s timing is perfect and His purposes are always good.
