As a culture, we are addicted to speed. We are taught this is the only way to "be successful," whatever that means. It is no wonder we find ourselves disconnected, stressed, drained. Or worse- the constant rush has become second nature and we cannot sense the true toll. I fall into the latter group. A few days ago, I sat to meditate and practice yoga, only to crumble onto my mat. I acknowledged that I am depressed, ungrounded, so exhausted that I cannot find presence, instead craving distraction or sleep. Mostly, I go through daily motions because I am too burnt out to do anything else. We cannot live like this. Survive? Sure. But live fully? No. We have to slow down, find stillness, sit with yourself compassionately. Walk, eat, speak, read, practice yoga, breathe slowly. Every single day. Be present.
