Post accident, my daily asana has consisted of forcing my injured body into full blown, active practices. It is painful. I know this. But hey, I am on the mat every day as a good student should. I am rising above, overcoming, bouncing back. Right? No. If you intentionally punish and seek to harm the body, Yoga is lost. Ahimsa applies to Self too. The last week, I halted my stubbornness and adapted. Gentle, yin, restorative. Ego attempts to convince me to push harder, that I am not doing enough, and hissing that my body must stay fit. Fear races to drown me... and sometimes these weary lungs falter. Yet always my breath lovingly lifts me again. You have permission to ease up, find balance. Recovery is a process, a practice of patient self care. It cannot be rushed. Give the body and soul space. Choose love.
