MAC Cosmetics ads clip shot by Director Spencer Higgins. We did powder effects and color smokey effects under the water, both require many gears for set up.
The water tanks for the smokey effects needs to be emptied and cleaned after every takes. We have a time efficient system to empty, clean up, and fill the tank to reduce the reset downtime to minimum. Once everything is set up, about 50 takes can be done in 5 hours.
We also did a couple of different versions of powder effects. For the powder effects, we usually build a tent around the table top and use air scrubber to prevent the powder from going everywhere.
Spencer has a bolt arm and his studio was full of interesting gadgets. He knows a lot about rigging as well, we have learned so much from him at this shooting!

Another video from Bobbi Brown shot by Director Mario Godlewski. This newer version video includes the paint explosion scene that was not shown in the previous clip. There are a few different paint effects that we did; the single color paint floating, and two paints in different shade crashing into each others.
For the splash scene, we prepared 3 gallon each of paints in 3 different shades. The colors are mixed in house using acrylic paint, the acrylic paint gives a brighter color than household paint when used in effects like these.
The product styling and smear background by Stylist Dylan Egon Samuel.

Saks Fifth Avenue Window Display shot by Director Lacey. The cosmetic floor got a makeover and moved from first floor to second floor. We did a lot of different effects for this shoot, powder, water, ink, paint, and more...
It had been a little while that we worked for Lacey, it was very nice to see her and work for her on this project. She is one of the sweetest person to be around, we had great time being on set with her!
Coincidentally, this was another project with DP Ed Frank from the previous post. More videos on this project coming soon.
