I’m so excited about posting these photos!!!!! Last night 42nd street opened at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London and now I can brag about a couple of the cloths I worked on in Jan and Feb!

I was lucky enough to see a dress rehearsal in March and really enjoyed it, enjoyed the showmanship of it, the costumes and glitter and fabulousness of the design, ESPECIALLY the tap routines. The story was….. awful, umm arbitrary, creepy love interests? The protagonist crediting her director with her performance? Really sexist depictions of female characters/lyrics/messages, etc.

Anyway THESE ARE SOME PHOTOS OF OUR LOVELY CLOTHS!!! I was particularly proud of the letters I painted in the 2nd cloth!! I’m not taking credit for the drawing- that was a huge team effort, and the metal door is a real door, but I can for the paint effects! The 2 big windows look amazing - my friends did those using plasterzote stamps and transparent ink so they could be backlit.

Everything that appears to be glowing is actually raw canvas painted in these transparent inks, everything else was done in many many layers of paint to stop the light seeping through.

I’m a fan of “Spotlight Paint” b/c it really makes a bold art statement, and is easy to do.

There are loads of changes that’ll give your bedroom a new lease on life. But trust me when I say that the feature wall is the biggest and best one.
