MLP AU Concept Art & RAMBLING
Ive been really into My Little Pony lately, which was a pretty big thing when I was a kid, used to have a CD (hey what happened to those by the way I miss them) of the first episode that I would watch every single day when I was young. This seems out of the blue but it kind of is not, I mentioned the ideas to some people on discord who I know so it's going to take a bit of rambling to get the public up to speed. See this is why I use tumblr its because I can ramble without being forced to compress everything into a measly 200 characters. Anyways
The premise of this AU (...sort of) is a universe where Mare Do Well is a real person like Daring Do cuz I love her character design and wished she actually got to appear more, however she has a lot more Darkwing Duck-isms, and drama like Spider-Man because
The fabulous masked pony you see is in fact a ponified version of the female Spider-Man I've been posting a lot on this account. Or at least that was the premise behind her creation... Here is what she looks like without the outfit, so I can explain what Spidey has to do with anything, because right now it just looks like Mare Do Well (I know people hate that episode but honestly I dont care MDW looks so fabulous) but dressed more like DW
Darkwing's secret ID is Cirrus Stream, Manehattan mailpony by day and gadget-wielding hero by night... she was initially concieved as a normal pony who chills and delivers the news (like in Mini Marvels' version of Spidey) and lives in Manehattan cuz thats the Equestria equivalent of NYC, but I thought it would be funny to doom her to having a double life even in a kiddie universe like MLP. She does not have powers, unless you count the ones that every pegasi has which is being able to fly and walk on clouds. And speaking of pegasus she is a pegasus because 1, I like drawing them, they're very expressive; and 2, Petra's name is derived from the greek word for rock and pegasus is from greece... MLPFIM has tons of references to greek stories in general which is pretty cool
Her name is Cirrus like the wispy looking clouds for people who like science, which also happened to be nicknamed "mare's tails", Equestria canonically has those names for clouds in-universe as well as seen in the ep where Rainbow Dash had to stay in the hospital and her friends brought her favorite board game (that episode is genuinely great for worldbuilding even if it's literally just rainbow dash in the hospital for the most part)— so Cirrus's parents are probably nerds
So I rambled mostly about meta (a whole lot of nothing) but what's this gal actually like... well she is like partially Darkwing Duck and partially Peter Parker. She's smart and invents cool gadgets but is super obnoxious about it, one of her favorite things to do is call herself some variation of "genius". Which is a bit ironic considering the moral of the Mare Do Well episode is that you shouldn't let fame get to your head, not to do good things only so that people will praise you. But this actively does get her into trouble just like Darkwing Duck, so she has to stop being obnoxious and lock in. Other than being dramatic and embellishing she also has a reputation of being lazy, she sleeps a lot during the day but that's because she stayed up the last night fighting supervillains. She's always off doing something thats somehow more important than work or whatever but can't say what it is. Probably complains about the Mane 6 or the Power Ponies I haven't decided which yet the same way Spider-Man complains about the Avengers
Speaking of supervillains, here is one that I thought about slightly more than the others (which is not a lot)
He is basically the pony version of Megavolt from Darkwing Duck's rogues gallery. There is a joke about horse power in here somewhere if I can just find it
I'm thinking he got into an accident at the weather factory that gave him his powers, which is an Electro origin... he definitely got bullied but I haven't figured out if its at school or at the factory. I think it would be fun to have him and Cirrus be classmates at some point when they were younger because Darkwing Duck and Megavolt were classmates, and also in the 2003 cartoon Spider-Man and Electro are classmates. He's sort of like the fluttershy of the villains, Cirrus and him are actually pretty friendly with each other sometimes because it's My Little Pony but the classmates idea backs this up too. Despite this he is still a villain who tries to steal stuff and has the capacity to hurt someone
The other villains, would be based on Spider-Man and Batman villains similar patterns to those in Darkwing Duck's rogues gallery. There would be gangs of diamond dogs, evil rich business ponies, a plant-based villain, etc. A selection of them would unionize against Cirrus and form either a group of five or six, including Pony Megavolt, but Idek who those other villains are yet
And I think I finally ran out of things to say, unless I suddenly remember to go back and edit. But this is the end for now. I dont think anyone wants to read all this LOL I was getting a bit tired of writing myself but I'll put it out there anyway
