I don’t know how it happened, but while trying to make a Floraverse version of Malkul, I ended up attempting to make a species for it! I’ve quickly gotten attached to what I’ve dubbed Polkans for now. I have some basic info on them here, but it’s subject to change at any time; it’s not finalized until I have a real ref! They’re just some taur-ish deer-donkey-dragon-things that are heavily influenced by their magical environment (as is the case with many Floraverse races and critters).
Left - Some example Polkans done quickly on firealpaca while my computer was being a dingus. I think the one on the left probably has a Clay affinity (common) and the one on the right has a Sound affinity (less common).
Right - Malkul Dagoon as a Polkan with a Shape affinity (Clay x Spirit)! May or may not have some cockatrice in his heritage. Has also gone through a third affinity transition due to the Polkan’s natural ability Overdose.
NOTE: Though this info and these drawings are mostly just relevant to Floraverse, which is an open setting under the Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License (AKA, you can expand on the material, make money with it, etc. as long as you credit appropriately), I do plan on making a Myriaverses (my own setting) version of them that isn’t magical and is less Flora-flavored. I plan on keeping that version to myself! All I ask is that nobody use Floraverse!Malkul himself, all right? He’s a personal character and I wouldn’t be comfortable with people making AUs of him or whatever. He was made with other settings in mind first. xux
